Pharm class.

Do you have a pharm class?

We do, Im currently in it and its terribly hard. I was talking to a few friends who have gone to a bigger university adn they said"we have it integrated into all of our classes." Just wondering how many ppl actually have a Pharm class.

I haven't started NS yet, but I have to take a 3 credit pharm class next semester as a pre-req. I'm glad we actually take it before so I don't have it on top of all the nursing classes! Oh, btw... its a BSN program.

We get a 1 credit pharm class for 3 terms so I guess that' like a 3 credit, 1 term class : ) It doesn't seem difficult so far. What are you having trouble with so far? My program is an ADN/ASN.

In my BS program we take pharmacology I and pharmacology II, each three credits, during the program.

We also were responsible to know the drugs for any giving condition in our nursing classes.

Its just so much to learn and know and ALL of it is important. I walked out of class today feeling TOTALLY overwhelmed. Our teacher also gave us a "weed out" speech where she mentioned that 1/2 of us probably wont make it through it this quarter(we only ahve 21 right now, started with 27 in April).

My ADN program has Pharm in the last three semesters. I'm currently in the second semester, first pharm class, and it is flat out evil. :(

The information is so vital to both the NCLEX and to patient safety, and there is SO much of it to learn! I'm making 100s on my classwork, but 60s/70s on my quizzes. Thankfully, I'm in a small department, and our professors are very kind, and more than willing to help a student who wants to learn. We don't "weed out" per se, but this program definately isn't for everyone.

At this point, I'm about ready to set up a tent outside my Pharm professor's office door!

We have pharm for a the whole year so I guess you could consider it a 2 semester class. Our lpn program is 11 months and then you graduate. Then you apply to the adn program which is 10 months and I've been told there is no pharm classes there. You are just expected to know every drug that is introduced through the year. We just got through adrenergic and cholinergic drugs which they say are the hardest. Made it through pretty well so I'm hoping they aren't lying to me...lol.

My ADN is 2 pharm classes, Pharm and than Advanced pharm the next semester. We also have it incorporated into our regular classes on top of that.

Im in a bridge program and we only have a 1 credit class because I'm in class with LPN's. The generic option has an Intro and actual Pharm class. I guess they assume we should know this stuff since we are already in the field. The problem is I am RRT so all of this stuff is new. I start in Jan so I guess I have to get a head start. Its ADN program.

I'm in an LPN/BSN bridge and we take 2 semesters of pharm.....not an easy class.

I agree pharm is not an easy class. I had to take a 3 credit course and I will be finished tomorrow after my final, and I will be so glad it's over.

My program runs it for 2 quarters, and it also appears in clinicals and on theory exams for clinicals.

We have to take a Pharm class the last semester of our nursing classes (it's a 2 yr program). I wish we were allowed to do it as a prerequisite class or in the first semester b/c it would help us with some of the background understanding. However, I have found that in clinicals they are trying to drill as many of the drugs into us as possible, and in theory some teachers require that you know certain drugs for tests. I'm hoping it will at least make sense!
