Online Prereqs

I was wondering how many people did their prereqs (when possible) online as opposed to go to a school. I am trying to work for as long as I can, and can't really do that if I take regular classes. I could take night classes, but then have to worry about childcare costs. I've already looked into it, and the last of the prereqs I need to take are all online.

Anyone that took any classes online, would you recommend it? Did you find it easier or harder to do the work independently? l

Make sure that wherever you take them from they are accepted by the nursing school you apply to. Classes like anatomy and physiology and micro have lab components to them and really need to be taken in person. Many nursing programs will not accept online lab classes. I understand your issue, but these are parts of getting into nursing school.

I love doing classes online, and will take them as such as much as I can. I really enjoy it over in person classes.

For me, working independently is a lot easier than not. I tend to get better grades when working independently. Plus, I enjoy the challenge of online. You've really got to be motivated in order to succeed.

There are some online classes that have online labs. One of my local community colleges have ap 2 online, but you have to pay 300 for the lab portion.

I understand what you are saying, but these classes at my local community college are the exact same science classes that you take at the school (and a couple of the classes are not science). They do have labs and mail you every, including a microscope, that lets you do the labs at home. I've already checked, and all the nursing programs in my area accept these classes. I've already posted this on the Colorado forum, and have talked to others that have done these specific classes. Just wanted to get a broader opinion on online classes in general.

A&P online is very tough (I did I and II online), that being said I took a Lit course, intro to psych, nutrition, and human growth through the life span all online and enjoyed them. Just have to be self motivated and assure that you do not get behind.

I took all of my non-science prereqs online. I like being able to work independently and on my own schedule. As long as you are motivated and are able to stay on top of things without going to class everyday, you should be fine.

I took all my pre reqs on line. got two more to go! I love it.

Did majority of my prereqs online. Found it to be great for my schedule. I would def recommend it if you have the study habits to succeed in online classes. Like many others said, make sure your potential schools accept online sciences/labs. When doing my research, I found many that did not. However, I did get in to a nursing program in FL that accepted all of my online coursework, sciences included. Just depends on the school.

Online classes are okay, but if they are science courses required in the nursing prerequisites, the admissions committee may not accept it. You can try to just take one or two classes at a time while still working full time! It is possible, you just need to balance your time. But other than that, online classes are totally accepted in my area. I took my psych and intercultural comm class online and they worked out very well.

Ive done all my pre reqs online, including science classes. I chose the online route so that i could continue to work full time. Time management has been hard and sometimes i wonder if i might have had an easier time taking the classes in person. If you can take A&P in person i would recommend it!! there is alot of memorization and my online class has gone so fast that I dont feel that i have retained as much as i could have in a live class. Doing the labs at home has been cool since you can do then on your own time :)
