NNP Programs

Does anyone know of any reputable online programs for NNP? I'm a NICU nurse thinking about pursuing NNP. I'm also a wife and mom and won't be able to "move out" to attend the program in a classroom setting. However, I do realize most of these NP programs require a visit to the campus several times...which is fine. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!

One of my favorite (and best) NNPs at work went to University of South Alabama and we have a nurse going through that program now too. They both recommend it very much. We also have a nurse and a student doing clinicals with us going through Vanderbilt. Both will require you to come to campus at some point, but not frequently. Idk about Vanderbilt for sure, but USA requires an on-campus orientation for a few days before you start your first clinical semester.

Thank you for that information. I'll definitely check into that. I'm located in Virginia, so I might have to break down and fly for the first time if I end up there :)

I like this one. UTA in Texas. Minimal visits to campus, I think once per semester. Can be completed in 18 months full-time.

Check out the link, click on their NNP brochure.

Thank you very much!!

I just wanna comment on that bc I went to UTA to finish my BSN, so now that I've been applying to grad school, checked back with them. They told me that you really do have to come to campus more frequently than that, which I didn't understand, since the website says otherwise. Which is a shame, because I LOVED their program for RN-BSN. Double check though, in case there's a change! I would vouch to check them out if it's less time :)

I got accepted to Univ. of South Carolina for the Fall and am really excited about their program. They don't have neonatal, but they do have FNP!(I saw in another post you considered that, as well).

I'm going through Creighton right now and we go back 3 times/2 years - it's only a DNP program, however, no more MSN. There's also University of Cincinnati. It looks like Vanderbilt requires 3-1 week blocks of time in Nashville.

Also, UMKC has a good program but please watch out - depending on what state you're in your DOH may not allow you to do in-state clinicals with an out-of-state program.

I will be starting with Duke in the fall. It is a part time online program and you have to go to NC about 5 times during the 2.5 years. So far I like the director and other advisors, they are easy to ask questions and get an answer quickly. I would check with your state and also the school you are interested in. There were a couple schools that I talked to that we're not interested in contracting students in my state.

I am a FNP looking to obtain a post-master's NNP degree. Could you please post more information on the admission process, how you've liked the program, and your cohorts admission statistics (e.g. GPA, years of experience, certifications)? Thank you.

Is it even possible for an FNP to get a post-master's certificate as an NNP?
