Need urgent reply, please help. Regarding NCLEX acceptable identification.

Published

Hello, nurses! I am leaving tomorrow to take my NCLEX on Tuesday and am worried that I won't be allowed through the doors. My TX driver's license expired, so I renewed it a few weeks ago. It has yet to arrive. I don't have a state ID or an unexpired passport. I have the temporary license given to me when I renewed my license, but according to the ATT, temporary licenses are unacceptable. I did some Googling and found the 2010 NCLEX Examination Candidate Bulletin which lists "U.S. drivers license (if expired, a renewal slip must be presented in order to be admitted) (Department of Motor Vehicle-Issued)" as an acceptable form of identification. I'm assuming that this "renewal slip" is what I was given when I got my license renewed. Is that correct? I don't want to drive up only to be turned away and forced to repay and reschedule! I will be bringing the Bulletin information that I cited in case they don't want to let me in. Any thoughts? I'm not even nervous about my exam, just about being allowed to take it! Thanks in advance.

I don't have an answer for you but at this point all you can really do is show up with your expired license and new temporary license and hope for the best, right? Hopefully it works out for you and good luck on your boards!

Fair enough. ;) Thank you!

if you have the renewal slip with your expired licence it clearly states it is acceptable: u.s. drivers license (if expired, a renewal slip must be presented in order to be admitted)

I wanted to test to test this spring after moving to TX (whereupon I immediately applied for TX drivers license and surrendered my previous.... stupid me!!). I interpreted the rule to mean that you cannot test with temporary (paper license) and I rescheduled.

Not sure about the renewal slip though, try to call the NCLEX customer service line!

op have you considered rescheduling until you have confidence that you have the proper identification to remit to be allowed to take your nclex?

nclex is far from free and you sound quite worried and bothered.

can the test wait til id-gate is over?

I had an issue with my identification for my test this past August. I called Pearson Vue and they told me exactly what I needed, therefore I would suggest that instead of guessing and cancelling unnecessarily, stressing urself - call.

What I would suggest is to take your documents, drive to the testing center IN ADVANCE and have one of the examiners look at your documents and tell you if they are acceptable.

You do not have to wait until the test day.

What was the outcome of this situation? I am having this issue right now. I renewed my license ONLINE and therefore did not get a renewal slip, have been calling Pearson Vue and have spoken to the manager and she basically read to me the policy on having a renewal slip, and told me to contact BRN. DMV doesn't have anything to print out right now because my renewal is "pending" for 6-8 weeks.

I DESPERATELY need some advice! I am wondering what your result was with this, and if the renewal paper was enough to get in??? I am supposed to take NCLEX tomorrow, and should be sleeping, but I am worried about this. My license were up for renewal this year, and I needed a new picture ID as I had different hair color, wt. change, and pre-braces picture in my old photo. I got my renewal slip, and thought this would suffice, but do you have to have the old driver's license as well because they made me (and everyone I think) surrender my old one, so all I have is the paper renewal slip with picture id, signature, etc... but, now I am worried!:crying2: FAST response appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks!

The renewal slip was, in fact, enough to get in. I wasn't even questioned about having a "real" license. I told the woman there that my new license hadn't come in the mail yet, handed over the renewal slip, and was allowed into the exam room.

I apologize to the poster above you who didn't get an answer when they needed it! I'm so sorry for not noticing a late response to this thread.

Best of luck on your NCLEX! You got this! ;)

Thank you SOOOO very much! :) That does set me at ease! I cannot imagine that they make you have the old one, as it is a rule to surrender it. I finally fell asleep last night, and now am trying to go back for a couple of hours! Thank goodness it is in the afternoon! Again, thank you, and congrats to you!!!!
