my don had me sign some inservices, i signed first initial last name then title as a nurse does, she proceeded to ask me if this was my legal signature, i said i did not understand, she said how do u sign your personal checks, well i said first name then last, she proceeds to ask me if i was bipolar of something all this happened standing at nurses station in front of employees, patients, and visitors. i was highly insulted by this comment and went to the administrator, he said he would talk to her. did i do the right thing or should i have spoke to her first?:o

Seems kinda strange. I live in IL and my "nursing" signature is trauma r us, APN. However I sign my checks with my first and last name (and I usually leave off the APN unless I'm having a senior moment - lol).

I would be upset that my supervisor was asking if I was mentally ill at the nursing station - what an inappropriate remark. Yes indeed, I would ask her what she was thinking? At the very least, this was incredibly rude.

I would tell her, "yes I'm mentally ill". "I have a problem with hunting down PITA supervisors and torturing them!"

Of course I'm just kidding!

I would have been insulted too. All my nursing stuff is signed with first initial, last name, and title. I have two legal signatures, one that I used in my personal life and one in my professional life.

I agree with the others. I use first initial and last name and title. That is how I was taught in nursing school. Some use first and last name and title though. I would have been insulted too. Very terrible thing to say to an employee.

this was completely unprofessional, she knew what happen, no point in talking with her

you did a favor to the next person she sets her claws into

[MOUSE]thanx for support:w00t:[/MOUSE]

I always sign things like that. I am in such a habit that I once signed by personal check like that, then told my hubs, "I guess they don't care if I am a nurse." That was very unprofessional of her to say something like that to you, especially in front of everyone. Knowing me the way I do, I would have said something to her in front of everyone and I would have been in trouble. Kudos to you for not making a further scene.

I sign first intial last name rn. She owes you an apology! That was totally uncalled for, maybe she is bipolar and is trying to find a buddy.

I agree she was unprofessional. I sign everything at work with my first initial last name and title. I'm not sure what bipolar d/o has to do with the way you sign your name anyways. Sounds like she needs to be educated on the disease of bipolar d/o and how to be professional.

I was taught in school to sign legal name and title.. so I always sign my paperwork with first name, middle initial, last name, and SPN. When I'm at work, I sign it the same way with no title.
