MEPN 2015

Thought I would get this started...

Who is applying for UCSF MEPN Program currently?

I would say your fine. The admissions people are pretty chill so it couldn't hurt to shoot them an email. That said i just gone mine a few days ago. Good Luck!

let us know how your meeting goes lingrad! i wish i could meet up with a current student but that will probably have to wait until I (hopefully) get an interview.

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to see that this thread exists though I wish I'd found it earlier during the grueling application process. I am also applying to the PNP track and have spent years working full-time while completing the prereqs. I decided not to apply to any schools outside of the Bay Area so I am only applying to UCSF and Sammuel Merrit (UCSF is my top choice). I don't currently have any questions but I'm excited to be part of a larger network of applicants who are, like me, waiting with fingers crossed. Best of luck to all of you and I look forward to further discussion.

Hey Mammal,

I think the main thing to remember when it comes to the interview is this: if the school offers you an interview, they already know you're qualified, now they're trying to figure out if you are the kind of person they want to work with for the next three years. Think about it more as a conversation than an interview. Your interviewer will be completing many interviews that day, if you can make it a pleasant conversation for them they'll probably walk away with a really positive feeling about you. I think it's also important to remember that they aren't there to grill you. The nursing faculty are really nice and supportive across the board. So, take a deep breath, try to relax, don't reheorifice too much and try to let the conversation flow. Ask the interviewer questions, too! They LOVE that.

I'm in the health policy track but your track doesn't matter at all the first year. You're just focusing on becoming a nurse, and trust me, thinking about anything beyond that is really tough in the MEPN year. I'm loving it but it's intense to say the least.

Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for the info. This is really helpful! Did you end up living close to the school?

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...anyone else really hoping for some news this week? The anticipation is killing me here - hope to be put out of my misery for better or worse!

Last year interview letters were dated Dec 4th and sent out Dec 9th-12th. I too hope that we get the notifications that early this year, the anticipation is brutal. Best of luck to everyone! Hopefully we'll all hear very very soon.

I hope we hear back sometime next week!

Which specialty did everyone apply for? Is this your first/second/third/+ time applying?

I applied for the AGNP-HIV specialty. This is my first time applying.

I applied AGNP, this is my first time applying and I'm so anxious about interview notifications!

I just looked at UCSF's (updated) MEPN website and found this under their admissions tab:

"Invitations to interview and initial denies go out in the second week of December (we convene in the last two weeks of November so it varies)".

That gives us a smaller ballpark of notification dates.

I just heard from SJ - the review committee is done and "decisions will be going out within the next week."
