My professor has a disease called "loopus." What is this and how is it detected?

Do a google search for Lupus.

Lupus is a chronic skin condition in which ulcerative lesions spread over the body over a period of time. Diagnosed by a lab test.

Yep. That is one type. Ther are several other types also. You need to know which type of lupus you are dealing with. There can be more to it than skin involvement.

SLE, systemic lupes, is an inflammatory disease of the connective tissue that can invlove multiple organs and joints. It masquerades as many other diseases or disorders. Patients often have suffered with symptoms for years before getting an accurate diagnosis.

(On a lighter side, your spelling of "loopus" caught my eye. I thought this was a humorous thread about a nurses state of mind after a long, difficult shift :chuckle)

Good luck with your search.

I think I have that today...now where did I put the instructions for that conference call???....and my keys....and the new orientation packet....my new eyeglasses (bifocals no less!!)...and the budget evaluation information... sheesh!!

Loopus - isn't this a descriptive word for when the IV tubing, Oxygen tubing, Call lBell wire, and telephone cord get all twisted and tangled together?

Isn't that a part of the kidney? Loopus of henle? :chuckle

Lord you guys are full of pee and vinegar today!!! I am cracking up.

Seriously, to the OP: if you feel you may have Lupus, you should request a referral to a good Rheumatologist's care. It's very serious and difficult to treat ----as well as poorly-understood by many. I hope you will find the information you need and can be well! Best wishes.

Loopus--isn't that the name of the specs that the surgeons wear for vascular surgery? :D
