Loan Amounts? .. .

I walked out with $20,000 in loans. With my hubby's we have almost $40,000. Payment on that for 15 years is about $400 per month. Not quite but almost.

I know if I go through FAFSA I can get loans, but they are only for $1500 a semester, and thats not gonna cut it... Where did you guys get yours & were you able to defer the payments until after you graduated?

I am at a community college, and it will be betwen $6000-$7000 for the 2 years. I'm paying as I go, we are lucky to have the money for me to do this. Many people are getting loans.

WOW! Here in california it is $20 a unit. So like $700 a YEAR including books. Probably $2000 for the full RN including uniforms, and nclex fees etc.. It is an ADN so where I work I will make $200 less than a BSN, however they give us $10,000 a year to continue our education. Pretty fair deal I think.

I went to a private university that cost over 25k per year. I did it b/c I was 18 when I was picking out colleges and was a little clueless. However, I got a lot of scholarships for grades and for athletics. I ran XC, and Track all four years. Between the two of those, 3/4 of my tuition/room and board was covered. After the help from my wonderful parents, I walked out with 10k in student loans. They have a 3.125% interest rate, so when I pay it off, I pay it off... no rush for me personally.

I'll finish the ADN with about 15k in loans, but I have to take a bit extra to pay for childcare and i don't get much in the way of grants. Still it is worth it to me.

wow that is so awesome! maybe i should move to ca & go to school! ..

ours is $65/hr.. so with fees and everything they said it should be around $5000 ...

But thats not the thing Im worried about, I could pay that off just fine..

I just wanted to stay home while going to school, and thats whats going to be expensive...

But Ill just have to pray about it, and I have a semester or two before nursing school to figure it out..

I borrowed 39K. I used some of it to pay for top notch daycare for my 2 youngest children. There was no way I would have been able to focus at school if I was worried about my kids. My school was about 10000 a year, I got some scholarships and paid for some of it. I have no regrets, my payment is about 415 a month for 10 years. Part of my loans are Nursing loans and Perkins loans, which will be forgiven if I work in a high need area for a certain amount of time. Our whole state is high need so I am not worried about that part of it.
