just make sure there aren't any wrinkles, stains, etc.

Hi everyone.

I am currently working through a temp agency, and tomorrow I have an interview at 0800, then I go directly to work. I won't have time to change from "interview clothes" into scrubs before I go into work. Besides, I don't really want my current employer to know I'm looking for a different job....because I may have a chance to get in there permanently. The only reason I am going to this interview tomorrow is because it sounds like a better place to work and it would shave off over a 1/2 hour from my already long commute.

Is it unprofessional to wear scrubs to an interview, if I explain that I am on my way to work? I work quite a ways from home so I wouldn't have the luxury of changing. And if I walked into my current job wearing a suit, they'd know I was interviewing.

Have any of you done the same thing? Is it ok?

I would wear dress clothes and stop and change into scrubs somewhere along the way to work.

I believe it is preferable to wear something more dressy and more traditional than scrubs to an interview. But there are times when that simply may not be possible or practical. If you have no choice other than to wear scrubs, I would let the interviewer know that when you set up the appointment. That way, s/he will not be taken "aback" by your casual appearance, and will also know that you must be fiished on time in order to get to work.

As someone else said, make sure they are very clean and neat. Solid colors would probably look more professional than prints,

In my opinion, I would figure out a way to change. While nursing is your profession and scrubs are the clothing that you work in, it is not professional to wear that to an interview. That is like someone working at McDonald's and going to an interview in the Micky D's uniform. Tacky. Sorry, I know I will probably get bashed for this, but it my opinion. And no, I don't think that scrubs are tacky like Micky D uniforms, just trying to get the point across.

No scrubs. Either wear something appropriate or reschedule the interview.

I think that a dressy outfit is more appropriate. I have changed in a restroom many times when I am going from one place to the next. I don't think it is appropriate to wear such casual dress to an interview.
