  1. We didn't do anything like that! A lot of my class had been CNA's. Privacy for our patient's was one of our top priorities. We also had manekins and other simulations. I loved nursing school. I think you will too!
  2. Dear Gingerbell, Thank you so much for the update. I am very happy for you! You kept moving and that is good! I'm still thinking about it(I'm an LPN). I know going back will be a good move, I'm just having trouble trying to decide how to go about it(with my current responsibilities). I thought about College Net, but I'm leary because of the economy etc. Wouldn't want to get caught midstream, and have a company go out of business(heaven forbid). So I would love to hear about a grant/scholarship program, and a small college atmosphere would be nice. If you know of anything like that let me know. Much success and happiness to you!!
  3. It is sad, to work so hard, often short staffed, missing lunch breaks, eating in the Med room, or wherever you can, then not to be recognized or appreciated, on Nurses Day, in a way that rejuvenates you, is indeed, disappointing to put it mildly. Do they still allow pitch-ins? Sometimes you have to celebrate, and recognize one another.
  4. Dear Ms Nurse Assistant, I don't know what state you are in, but that waiting least, is ridiculously long, I agree! Are you talking about LPN or RN school? I know most people suggest that you go for the RN first, but you can get the LPN, in less time, and support yourself, while you add credits, toward your RN, via computer classes, if you desire. There are a lot of ways to do it now. Keep your dream in motion. I wish you success!
  5. Hello, There are also LPN to RN programs at Marion College in Indianapolis, and also a LPN to BSN program at Indiana State University, Terre Haute. Hope this helps
  6. Hello, RyanL I was 31yrs., when I finished my LPN training, I loved it! Hope you found the school, and schedule, that worked well for you! Wishing you great success!
  7. Hello, NurseHopeful! Just found your post, and it's obviously 3 years later. I'm very excited to hear, how things turned out for you, in the LPN program area, and the Holistic Healthcare Practitioner area! I am an LPN, and am very interested in the Holistic Heathcare Practitioner career arena. Look forward to hearing from you!
  8. Dear Michelleleh72, Thank you for your indepth, experience, of living in Alaska. I've heard about the money, and the beauty of the area! It was extremely helpful, to hear about the other aspects, regarding the high cost of living, the effects of the cold, and the time frame involved with receiving, the financial benefits. It's one of those dreams, you sort of put on a back burner, and consider. Have a Prosperous New Year!
  9. Dear Newlvngrad, I worked for a weight loss clinic for a short while, the hours were short, and changed around, from schedule to schedule. I did appreciate the experience! We took health histories, and did EKG's, along with Vital Signs, weights, and some consults. We had a Physician, and an RN consultant. This was several years ago. There are Physicians, who are willing to train you, to assist them, with many different procedures! I worked also for a while in an HMO. I loved it there! They sent me to be trained to start IV's! I had experience hanging and monitoring IV's prior to that. We were not allowed to hang blood, but there are some things, that I believe it is best that an RN or Physician do! There were opportunities, to rotate into different clinics, like OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Adult Medicine etc. I know I'm kind of getting off the subject, but there are some wonderful opportunities, for LPN/LVN's. I just happen to think that Holistic Nursing, is the way to go. Try also an internet search for Holistic Clinics, in your area. Talk again soon!
  10. Hello! I know that we can take vital signs, weights etc. There are certifications, for other skills, but to get started, I know our license is enough, for routine things. I am interested in learning more about nutrition, aromatherapy, etc. We have ads in the paper here, for wellness clinics, from time to time, but not often. I have applied before. As a new graduate you should definitely, call and also send resumes, to all the clinics you are interested in! Most of them will I least call, or send an acknowledgement note. You will be more successful, if you follow up. I should do likewise. Looking forward to hearing back from you!:welcome:
  11. Thank you, for the website and info!
  12. I am also an LPN, and interested in Holistic Nursing. I had thought about a Wellness Clinic. Have you considered that as an option?
  13. Thank You! That is very true! I used to only hear about cases, in hospitals, or long term care. I totally appreciate, your calm, informative approach, to this!
  14. Dear Emma123, Wearing scrubs is very relaxing! If you have a lab coat, or jacket, that would also, be a nice touch! Wishing you the best!
  15. Dear NEWATTHIS, I haven't done this personally, but I did a GOOGLE, search and came up with http://www.powerhomebiz.com, they had some very helpful information, about starting a home based phone answering service. Wish you all the best! PS, Try moving your request, to a General Discussion forum, you'll probably get more, responses there, as well!
