  1. I would hope a man could provide for a family of three on $26.16 an hour up there.
  2. I would only work 12 hour shifts, but I would like to work at Mat-Su. Problem is they don't hire new grads from out of state or so the human resource lady told me.
  3. If I am making $25.00+ an hour, how expensive can it be? The cost of living calculator figured if I made $32,000 a year I would need $46,000 a year to live in Anchorage. At $25.00 an hour I would be making above $46,000. Milk is $3.07 per gallon, gas is $3.02 per gallon, a movie ticket s $8.50; do these differ much from Alaska? I also pay 6% state sales tax and 6% income tax (state) along with a multitude of other WV taxes.
  4. Any nurses from Wasilla that support a family on there income commuting to Anchorage? Starting pay for a new grad is $25.50, is that enough for a family of three? How about the commute to and from, any problems?
  5. will a years experience make at Providence or Alaska Regional? The starting pay is $25.50 an hour for a new graduate, but would waiting a year and having a years experience really increase the hourly wage? Also, are there any RN's in Alaska that support there family on there wage? I will be the sole bread winner in my family and am curious how hard it would be to support a wife and son there.
  6. I am wondering the same thing. I am currently in WV and planning on moving up there in May of 08 when I graduate with my ADN. I did call and talk to Alaska Regional and there starting pay is $25.50 an hour with many job openings (web site lists forty or so). Craigs List has RN positions with one year experience on a Med Surg floor starting at $35 an hour. Do you have family or is it just you?
  7. Family is the hardest part. We are all located in a small town in WV and it would kill them to loose there grandchild. I want to live in a cold, mountainous place away from the routine.
  8. Are there any nurses here from Alaska? I am really leaning towards moving to Alaska, but I'd like to hear from nurses already there. God bless
  9. I agree. I wasn't sure where to post and in my haste I picked activism. Your also right that it probably isn't that big a deal, but being told that the word GLOCK is offensive really lit my fire. A liberal who likes guns.....who woulda thunk it. )
  10. I am a strong proponent of the right to bear arms and I am extremely conservative. This is a private board and if the owner wants to ban me based on the use of the word GLOCK, that is fine. We need to stand up for our right and not bow down to liberal bias against firearms or we will loose our right. That means everywhere.
  11. Could someone please explain to me why this word is offensive? traumaRUs has denied me the right to use this word in my handle for no other reason than it is offensive. I have carried a GLOCK ever since I obtained my permit to carry concealed and I love these firearms. Why am I not allowed to honor Mr. Gaston Glock by using his name in my handle? Remember libs, freedom of speech before you start your anti gun rant.
  12. You can never be too conservative and no, this type of behavior is not acceptable in the work place.
