I GIVE UP~

First, let me say thank you to everyone who has been there for me through this ordeal; your support has been price-

less.

I have decided to GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!

I can't take another 8-9 pages of articles to read, summarize and 'discuss' in

addition to the reports, group reports, 5-6 chapters to try to make sense of

for each test, the charts, etc and still try to at least read and understand my APII chapters.

The class I'm referring to is micro, which is being taught at the scientist level.

I have cried, worked, studied, cried, vented, reached out for the instructor's

help, All to no avail.

I'm just not willing to sacrifice my sanity, my life, nor my GPA for this insanity.

I am already a LVN; I guess I just have to be happy with that.

I just don't have the emotional strength to take this abuse any longer.

Thanks for your reply.

My micro class was NOTHING like you described. It was fun, educational, and my instructor made the information very easy to learn. Do you have any options to retake it with a different instructor or at a different school???

Have you considered taking it online? There are a bunch of schools that offer it. And no group projects - hooray!! (I hate those things)

Just don't give up afranklin. If you want it, you can do it... even if you hit some bumps along the way.

((HUGS))

The our semester is over in 4 more weeks, how much longer does yours last?? We had 1 group project in mine, then one 3 part project for us.

Can you take Micro at a different school and transfer it in? Seems like such a waste to have one class or one instructor ruin your dream. There are other options. Seek them out.

Good Luck

Matt

Don't GIVE UP!!!

It get's easier each time you do it.

Is there nowhere else you can attempt to take it???

If nursing is your dream dont give up...If micro is kicking your but and causing you to give up, then becoming an RN may not be truely in your heart.

Pre-reqs (for the nursing program) are ment to weed out the week...dont let one class(probably taught by not a great teacher) ruin your ultimate goal (if nursing is you ultimate goal)...

Time is going by super quick...If you get through that class and look back and thank God that you didnt quit. If you do decide to give up...you might be full of regret later.

I hope you choose what is right for you and what is truely in your heart.

(make sure you give it some thought if you decide to truely give up)

Best wishes with whatever you choose.

I think you should drop the course and retake it next semester with another instructor or at a different school. I have had some bad instructors and sometimes I have to drop the class and take it again, but the second time is always a lot better.

I too had a class that I would study for hours in and break down in tears because there was so much to learn. Later I found out most people took it from another instructor because they knew in advance that the instructor I had was incredibly tough. I wish I had known that ahead of time, it would have saved me so much anguish. Funny thing is, years later, I remember much more from the "easier" instructors because all I remember from the tough instructor is a blur. I am so sorry to hear that you are being given such a rough time. I wish instructors would consider how much we would retain months later, rather than how much we can regurgitate next week. Best of luck. I hope you have the option of taking it with another instructor. Whatever your decision is, I hope you can rest assured that school is not supposed to be like that and you deserve better.

I've had to take every math class at college twice to pass. I only passed chemestry because of an open book test. Micro is hard. I got lucky and took it in the summer. WWW.ratemyprofessor.com is a great reference site where you may find a teacher more atuned to your needs. Maybe you just need a break. Take the summer off from school and go back fresh in the fall. You could also review the material really well. Best of luck.

I am new here, but I am really sorry to hear you are giving up a dream of becoming a nurse. Some of the courses frighten me a little (like CHM), but in the long run nursing is a dream I have to full fill. As embarrassing as it is for me to type this, I had to take College Alegebra three times in order to pass. And the only reason I did was because I had an awesome tutor that worked with me for 15 hours a week. It was hard work. That was all five years ago now and here I am back in school to finish up and get into nursing. Maybe you need a break. I took one and a little too long at that (but I wanted to take time to enjoy my babies that I had in the meantime). Now, I feel that even the roadblocks are not going to hold me back.

I also suggest using ratemyprofessor.com or even google the professor. I have done that for all the courses and while it is tedious work, I will not take a course with a difficult instructor. At times, it has NOTHING at all to do with whether you are fully capable of passing the class. It sometimes lies all within that professor.

Good luck
