This is my first time posting here. I've read through a few posts the last few days. I think this is a great message board for nurses and students to vent as well as talk about issues they are dealing with. I am a CNA right now, slowly working my way to a BSN. I will finish my LPN Dec 2004, then will take a 1 year LPN to RN bridge class (it's a weekend course so I can work as an LPN during the week). Then I plan to take classes one at a time to get my BSN somewhere down the line. I know, the DON at my school said "you're taking the LONG way", but I have a family and not much money so I think it will work better for me this way.I already have an associate's degree in Science so hopefully it won't take too long. I have been working in healthcare for 5 years as a phlebotomist, medical assistant and CNA. I'm working at a home health agency now. I have two beautiful little girls. I guess that's about it. Thanks to anyone who's read this. Tonya

You should be sure to check out the student nurse forum. There are lots of people there, including myself, who are going thru the same things.
Welcome!

Hi Tonya,
Along with everyone else I wish to welcome you to the forum. I'd just like to give you a little heads up if you hadn't all ready thought of it. When you're picking your prerequisites for your ASN put a list of the prerequisites for your BSN next to that. You don't want to step on your own toes, and it may save you a little time in the long run. You don't want to find out that you needed either western or eastern man to cover your humanities for your ASN and come to find out you have to have eastern man for your BSN and you took western. An accident like that can save a whole class. I did the comparison way for my ASN and saved a great deal of time for myself. Your pay is going to nearly double with your RN so the quicker you can get it done the more cash you're going to see. Remember nursing school isn't' hard it's simple time consuming. Good luck to you Tonya.
Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate everyone's support.

You have to have a certain number of posts before you can upload a custom avitar. I think it's 50. I don't exactly remember.
Welcome home!

Welcome to our board. This is a good place to meet other nurses and nursing students. It's a very supportive website, and you can learn a lot. Just a word of wisdom, Take one day at a time, and learn as much as you can in that one day. Then the next day you will learn something new. It's like building blocks, and even though the pace can get a bit stressful at times, in the end you'll be glad you hung in there. You are needed and wanted.
