Hello, any one else been going back to school for 23 years?

hi , I am an LPN fo 28 years now and am returning to school for the, LPN to RN Bridge program. My question is, since I am so slow and dumb on the computer, I wondered if students handwrite their lecture notes still, or are they using laptops.

Not a DUMB question. Remember, no such thing Actually, I am spoiled because our instructors email us the powerpoint slides ahead of time. I just print and take notes on them- rarely reading word for word the numerous text pages (unless I need clarification) One girl in our class (out of 25) has a lap top. One of the other transition schools I applied at was requiring a PDA but the one I am going to did not- thank goodness. I need to be making the RN money to afford that luxury item.

Good Lord I hope I'm not required to purchase a PDA! Yikes.

i'm seriously considering lpn to rn .lpn for 32 yrs. don't know which way i'm going,ec or reg goto school. cost will decide,also will state of wisconsin boards accept ec. have u looked into cost yet? i'm not as much concerned about personal ability as much as finding out what the teachers want,peer personalities,stuff i wouldn't need to worry about i don't think,w/ on-line classes. i'm just to "old" to deal w/ politics, just want to focus on gaining knowledge needed,& have it pay off. seeings i'm 57,will cost of school,to improve income potential for 1 thing, be cost effective? i realize, i could stroke out tommorrow,& essentially have waisted some of my hubby"s $$. i'm seeing a person monday re;all my questions, also will be calling boards folks.do youhave all ur facts yet.one thing i can tell u,i think the more mature students can be better students, in general, if they aren't tied up w/ child care etc,and are more focused on not wasteing time & $$!

I too have decided to go back to traditional school after 12 1/2 years of being an lpn. I am scared. But my heart is in it and I am determined as well. I too have been going back and forth and was dedicated and just stopped but now after realizing that my only child will be graduating high school in three years that I will need a new challenge in my life. I have been busy with work and the holidays. But, I am studying and continuing to work hard.

I am doing a distance learning program through The College Network. I will earn ASN from Excelsior University.

I am using a lap top. I think it is a good investment. I also take alot of practice test online . The laptop makes it more accessible anytime and anywhere.

It has been six years since school for me, (I'm not too old just yet but I've had a looong life it feels like).

I feel that school is easier for me now, I am more mature and I have my heart in it now.

Count me in! I graduated from LVN school in 1977, started my prereqs in 78 while working full time, got married in 80 and quit school. We raised 3 kids while I worked in medical offices. 2 years ago I decided to to go back to school. I work full time on a pediatric oncology floor. This semester I am taking my last 2 classes, chemistry and a remedial algebra class. I hope to start the LVN to RN bridge program in the Fall.

I have been an LPN for 18 years and am finishing my prereqs this semester. I start the LPN to BSN program in October 2008 at a traditional college. I agree with the many posts that I couldn't have done this when I was younger. Now I take things much more seriously but I also don't fret over getting an "A" or "B". I do the best I can do while raising a family and working full-time. I don't want this to be a burden or take a lot of time away from my children. They are only young once and I want to enjoy my time with them. I am hoping getting the RN will broaden my horizens and give me more opportunities than are available to me right now.
