Hi everyone hoping someone could help me, so l recently passed my Nclex RN in hawaii and returned the registration notice with the check for my licensure. Some friends told me that it could take few weeks or a month for the release, my question is what kind of license am l gonna expect because other state have cards or wall certificates? Does hawaii bon send notice form first before they send the actual license card (for example)?

If a BONs practice is to provide nurse's license verification online, there is no need for a paper license.

I've never heard of a nursing license being granted as a wall certificate.
Hi dishes thank you for responding, are you licensed from hawaii?

So does California, at least as of 2009.

That's weird. What do you do with it? Do you hang it in your home? Do they send you a new one with each renewal?
I have a little paper card that I don't even know where I put. In 2015, having a hard copy of one's nursing license isn't really essential- anyone can look up my license online.

Some states offer a optional/decorative certificate suitable for framing.

The old days. Wall certificate as well as pocket license (for some states).
Why does it seem unusual? You go to your physician, her/his license is hanging on the wall (somewhere in the office). You go to your dentist, her/his license and the licenses of all the hygienists are hanging on the wall somewhere in the office. You get a haircut, the stylist's license is hanging on the wall. While lots of nurses work in settings, like hospitals, where you don't have a space of your own to display a license, lots of nurses do work in settings in which they are in offices and want (or need) to display their licenses, along with their degrees and certifications, same as other licensed professionals.
Most of my providers have their degrees hanging on their office walls, not their licenses.
