FCCJ Fall '09???

Hello all,

I am new to this board and also just received my acceptance letter for fall 09.

Like most of you out there I have many many questions. It dawned on me that no matter what happens now there is always a tomorrow. Let's not stress over the "right" piece of equipment, after all we have other more important issues ahead of us.

With that said IMHO and personal experience, get the best piece of equipment you can afford, set yourself up for success and that is what you will achieve. It does not hurt to be practical just don't lose sight of what you are trying to do.

Speaking from experience sometimes saving money now my force you to spend more later, not to mention its always best to train with the equipment you are going to use.

Also don't be afraid to ask the faculty for advice they are there to educate us and see us succeed.

Nothing in the mail again. I don't know what to do... I keep thinking that the letter got lost again.... I am Super worried now.

I am in it with you. My mail man has decided to run late today!!! I have been to the box twice since 12:45, my last trip just 5 minutes ago!! Ughhhh!

how many points does everyone have that has not gotten a letter??

The place you pick up your skills kit has some inexpensive BP cuffs. You *need* to have your own. You will use it in class and you have a sheet to fill out that shows you did 50 BPs on friends, family and neighbors...plus, for OUR clinical instructor, she insists that we have our own BP cuff there and to use it instead of the automated BP machine.

Well, nothing in the mailbox today, again!! I am not having a good feeling about this. I live in Clay and have 208.92. Is there anyone in a county that is not Duval or Nassau that got their letter of acceptance that has lower than 208 points out there? If so, please let me know so I can breath a little easier.

Hello everyone! I too am waiting for a letter - I live in St. Johns county. I have 176 points which I know is typically not high enough, but close. This is my 1st time applying. I am not expecting an acceptance letter, but am still holding onto hope:) At this point I just want to know so I can make plans to try again in the spring and take the entrance test again for a higher score.

I would like to know if anyone has received a rejection letter and if so how many points did you have? Any info would be appreciated. Congrats to all who have been accepted! I hope to follow in your footsteps in the near future!

I don't think any more letters will go out until after the deadline to accept. I think they are holding on to the denials and as a seat opens up they will select the next in line. Im sure a few students will decline their seat as they did in my term. Some got into UNF or SJRCC. Also after orientation there will probably be a few more empty spots, not everyone will come. I beleive this term is accepting more than ever before. I believe its like a total of 190 seats avaliable. thats just my thoughts on it. )

Thank you for your response. Do you think I should hold onto some hope? What are your thoughts? Thanks for the information. I do have a bachelors and masters degree, but I am not thinking that is going to be helpful. We will see! Thanks again.

yes, there is always hope. Thats just what I think may be going on. I know a couple people that were second string so to say that made it in. it happens every term I think ). they are doing just fine in the program now. I think our cut off was around 186ish. We started with like 168 students now in third term we are down to 130 something. Wait for uniforms and see what is available at orientation on the 17th. As far as a BP cuff I would wait. I only used mine like twice in Health Assessment and haven't used it since. At clinicals you'll use the hospitals dinamap. I would go for a mid price stethoscope, you will be getting your use of it in clinicals.

To everyone who has not received a letter yet, i still have not either, but I went to the Nursing office at the north campus yesterday and asked them about it. Everyone should receive a letter by the end of the week (all of the letters have been mailed by now) and with concerns about confirming your spot, I was told that the FCCJ nursing office will be calling you if you have not confirmed your spot and you have been accepted to the program. i'm pretty sure they understand that the mail is not always reliable and aren't just going to hand your spot off tomorrow. So I hope this helps with the stress, even a little.
