Fall 2016 MANE Programs

Hi! Just checking in to see if there are any other pre-nursing students out there applying to the MANE programs for next Fall. I know the applications are due in the next couple of weeks and I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts. I've submitted one to Century and am turning in Normandale's on Monday. Still waiting to hear back on a prerequisite waiver for IHCC.

I would retake the TEAS if I were you. There is always more studying that can be done and you certainly have plenty of time. You should literally have the manual memorized. With enough practice, there's no reason you can't achieve close to 100% in the math section to the very least. Get a tutor if you have to. Century also offers a TEAS study course for ~$150 that many have found helpful. Retaking the TEAS would be far cheaper than retaking a class. Plus, I think that you can submit your BEST score in the event of you somehow doing worse on your second attempt. Therefore, I don't really think anything should stop you from at least trying.

I also recommend purchasing the online TEAS practice exams (at least one of them). It will map out exactly which areas need the most work. You can take it twice. I took a practice test at the beginning of studying, and again 3 days before my test to freshen up on what I still needed.

You should shoot for at least an 11.4 to be mildly competitive (even this would likely be waitlist at Century, but you'd be near the top and probably get in), and make sure that you are applying to EVERY school that you could feasibly get to. For instance, You likely would have gotten admitted to Anoka-Ramsey with the score that you had this time. Their Coon Rapids campus is only 20 minutes away from Century and the requirements are the same. I know many people who were accepted to their program at your level.

Also keep in mind, if you do not get in this round or the next, the TEAS will be updating and you will have to retake an entirely new version. I don't imagine anybody wants to do that.

Best of Luck to you either way! Maybe you will still be able to get in this semester and won't have to worry about anything!!

That is true. I scored high in reading math and science but it was the last part of the exam that killed me. I should probably study more of that section and Hopefully it will help boost my score. Good luck to everyone.

I started a Facebook group called North Hennepin Cc MANE. says north Hennepin but anyone who is officially a nursing student please join and help each other out#!!!

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to start studying the math and science portion! If I get a spot it'll be amazing but I'll be prepared either way.

If anyone needs evening hours, check out Minneapolis Community Technical College. They have a few options.

Just wanted to update everyone: I was accepted into Inver Hills nursing program today! :) it's crazy to think that many people on both the accepted and wait list denied their spots (I was #20 on the wait list). Super thankful and can't wait to meet some of my future classmates next semester!

Congrats!!! Can I ask what your composite score was? Century doesn't tell us where we are on the waiting list.

Congrats again!!

Congratulation!!!!! :)

I believe my composite score was 11.3, my Teas was a 76 and my GPA was a 3.73 (3 As and 1 B)

:) good luck if you're on the century waiting list!

Congratulations on the wonderful news!

I'm in at Inver too!! I got my phone call yesterday:up: I was number 8 on the wait list with a composite score of 11.3. I can't wait to start, we have so much to look forward to! I can't wait to meet the people in our cohort!

Well it looks like the gang is all here - I too got the call! Of course, I still have to I have to pass A&P II and Micro this semester... crossing fingers that we will all see each other on the 8th of June!

Cheers!
