Ever Been Recognized?

I know we had the thread recently on if anyone has ever met anyone else on allnurses in real life. Now my question is, have you ever been recognized on here? Let's say a co-worker recognized your specialty, your attitude, maybe a catchphrase. Maybe a story was detailed enough for someone to recognize it. I have been lucky to stay anonymous so far!

So, have you guys been "caught?" ;)

I'm sure to get caught someday. My way of writing here is exactly the way I speak. Oops.

I have. And de-activated that account and started this one.

I recognized someone else- a real freak accident that led to a patient being declared a trauma, plus the response of the organization where the accident occurred really was a one in a billion. When this person posted about it here, it was like, yep, that's one of my coworkers. Didn't take long to look at other posts and figure out exactly who it was.

What gave you away?

Rose-Queen, are you from a large area? Or work at a big hospital?

Rose-Queen, are you from a large area? Or work at a big hospital?

Approximately 600 bed hospital in a large metro area with 3 competing smaller facilities. Even if it were a large multi hospital conglomerate, the story was so unique anyone would have recognized it as from our facility.

I always try to leave my descriptions vague enough so they people won't know it's me. It's a shame though. All my best nursing stories are so outlandish they'd definitely give me away! Like the one about the two headed fetus...

I met another AN nurse at work one time. For the life of me, don't remember how we figured each other out. I think we had begun sending PMs to each other and it went one step at a time. Another person posted only one post. Used her real first name which is very unusual. Never posted again. But that one post was 125% exactly like her, so between the name and what she said, and how she said it, I knew it was her.

I have been figured out by my bestfriend who I really didnt think was on AN that much. I vented about her and she saw the post and was very hurt. Immediately asked the mods to remove the thread and ofcourse I asked for forgiveness.

I have not been "identified" through AllNurses, but on other forums, I have been "outed" so to speak. I do tend to keep my online persona different from my "real life" persona just to try to keep some level of anonymity. I don't keep the school I attended that secret because I know some about the application process and the general progression of students through the program. I don't give away more specific info just because to so so would/could further identify me.

Also, I don't put "out there" anything that I wouldn't say in person. That way if I were to be confronted by someone about whatever I have posted online, I can definitely say that I did say that and I meant what I wrote and would say whatever to the audience the post was meant for.

I have figured out one peer a few years back but it was easy as my area is very specialized.

No one has "outed" me.

So I guess I am safe...for now...
