Yeah, it's because you're 23.I'm 'only' 35 years older (gasp - as I type that), and my 9-10 hr shifts are long enough... and I'm never energetic at the end of any of them.
I'm the baby of the MICU/Cardiac ICU. I'm the youngest nurse everywhere I go but it won't be for long. I'm catching up. Been a nurse so since 21 years old
Yes! I am crazy energetic to find my bed.In your case.. you have found a most excellent outlet to release that adrenaline rush.
Rock on CardiacDork. I envy your youth... and if I ever need a critical care nurse, I hope it is someone like you.
I am also very energetic to find my bed. Thank the goddess my commute home is short. I wouldn't survive.

Anyone else feel crazy energetic after work? Man lately I just feel pumped. Maybe it's because I'm 23? Not sure but it's like during work I can feel the fatigue and tiredness. But when I clock out since I'm not doing anything stimulating anymore, it's like all that adrenaline cannot cancel out anymore. I've been doing lots of running and have recently began to challenge my time/distance.
Especially when I get those crazy cases. For example I had a patient on IABP, ventilated, CRRT 1:1 titrating the UF, and talks about starting ECMO. Patient had over 10 drips! Just gets me all excited and pumped. I'm honored I'm getting these hard patients.
Maybe I leave pumped because I genuinely somehow enjoy my job and somehow I'm a masochist/ICU nerd to the MAX!!!
