EKG on NCLEX?

I've heard mixed news on whether or not I need to study EKG strips for the exam. Some say yes, but others say it's considered a "specialty" so it won't be on there. Anyone know for sure?

I say be familiar with common ones you were taught in school. V-fib, A-fib, etc know which you would use defibrillator vs cardio version. I did have a strip on NCLEX

I had one. A couple other girls from my class had one too. You don't need to study them like crazy...just know the basics (what would you do? what's the intervention?) Cardiac wasn't really emphasized at our school so I actually studied a little ACLS which helped.

I took the nclex last thurs (06.27) and I had 4 EKG strips. I expected one or two...but certainly not 4! Good Luck with your test!

I had one & it wasn't easy.

I had 4 maybe 5 . Yes study them I would say .

I only had one and everyone I know had 1-2. Mine was a SATA EKG, which was even more fun! LOL. Good luck!

I had to interpret an EKG strip (I didn't have to name it, but obviously i had to know what it was to select the correct intervention). I'm not sure who would say it wouldn't be on the test, there were certainly plenty of maternity and peds questions and those are definitely specialties as well. Basically, anything you learned in nursing school is fair game. Good luck!

I had a couple of strips when I took the NCLEX. Just be familiar with them, you don't have to go in-depth. Better to be safe and study them and not end up getting any strips vs. not studying and getting strips and therefore you're not prepared.
