I'm sure you're looking for adult input, but my DD took it when she was 8 and it gave her awful headaches and tummy aches. It did work as far as controlling her ADD (not ADHD) but I weaned her off of it as soon as we got some other measures in place due to the side effects. I think it affects everyone differently and there is a the new Extended Release version out now (XR) that may be better. Good luck!

My hubby takes it. I see a big difference in him if he forgets it a day or two. It has really helped him in a huge way!~ If he forgets it, he is moody and crabby. So I like it when he take it!:)

I've never taken it or known anyone that has, but after seeing MTV's True life story: "I take Adderall"....I would never want to.

I take Dexedrine (a component of Adderall) for my ADHD, and it's been a great help. I'm more focused and calm while on it; I can definitely tell a difference when I don't take it.

My 19yo has been on Adderal for 7-8 years with no problems (was previously on Ritalin & Dexadrine).

I began taking Adderall XR the end of May after my ADD diagnosis. It has changed my life both as a student and a wife/mom. My grades are up and testing scores are the highest that I have been able to achieve ever! I have taken 4 classes this semester: 1st class C, second: B, third: hoping for an A (but I'll take a B) and my last class I am holding a B presently. My study habits are improved dramatically, my dedication 2 my studies and studying has changed so much that I feel like a new student. I know that I am gonna do this! Too bad it took me 5 yr in college to discover this, but I guess it wasn't the right time b4. I already flunked out once, but it ain't happening again! I am elated w/my results!
Let me know how it wks out 4 u. U can see that I have only gone up!

*My son didn't do well w/the XR, but does well w/the reg and a low dose (5mg). He's 18y. I am taking 20mg.

Hi, I don't take Adderall but I do take Concerta for my ADD. I've been taking it over a year now. There is a big difference when I do and don't take it. When I'm taking it, my focus and attention is so much more in tune with what is going on around me. I still have some issues due to ADD but it helps. I also have OCD and because of these two conditions makes me worried how I'm going to do in this nursing program. I try to think positive thoughts and hope for the best. :)

Does it help your memory as far as studying if you are not ADD??

That's something you'd have to talk to your doctor about. Stimulants may be good for what ails you but can cause a whole lot of damage outside their prescribed use.
Prescribed for ADD my son took it and got worse because he was really bipolar... adderal wasn't as bad as concerta but concerta gave him chest pains as well. With every body reacting differently this is something you really need to be extra careful and consulting your physician about. It isn't prescribed lightly, there's a reason they don't give refills on adderall.

My daughter took it for narcolepsy, only briefly. She had a rather nasty reaction to it. She only took it for two days because it made her extremely paranoid.
