the site does not make me a better nurse. it's the decision to apply the information i've learned to my practice that makes me a better nurse, and of course, learning from my mistakes. this is a wonderful resource; however, if one reads it and chooses not to apply it, then it hasn't done anything except "pass along" information. choice makes one a better nurse, not web sites.

of course if the website didn't exist, there wouldn't be any choice would there be?

without nurses on allnurses.com lighting the way, other nurses might not know they had been mistaken (especially if it's not a glaring error), or how others remedied one like it.......

and how come the possibility that allnurses.com could change the course of nursing care as it's currently practised, in a positive way has raised such a negative response? :o

of course there would be choice without this web site, this is not the only place to get information. choice existed long before this web site did, so whether or not this site exists, choice always will. you have to be proactive on your own behalf to get better information, ask for help, or find a mentor. i have found all of those, long before this site existed. just because someone answers "no" to a question one should not assume it implies a negative connotation. mine is an honest response, not a negative one.

this thread, however, is about choice within allnurses.com, and your post addressed that thread, not extraneous situations. you chose to post here, read others' posts, etc., including mine, which was given to address the negativity you expressed, about the value received herein. :loveya:

maybe you would be kind enough to educate me on what was negative about what i expressed with regard to, "the value received herein." i was trying to make a point that it is not the web site that makes me better- is that negative? please help me understand what you perceive as negative about what i've expressed so that i may learn what you mean because i am confused to say the least.

Being ex RN of a couple of years, but having visited here over the past 10 years (I lost my account so had to make a new one in 2006) Allnurses didn't make my physical skills better but improved my knowledge.

It also helps knowing there are other people going through the same thing you are when times are difficult. I think it helps to talk things out with people, some on the other side of the world :redpinkhe, which can put things into perspective.

I would have loved for this site to exist when I was at uni then started as a new nurse! But then I graduated in 1996 so no internet then.

It has helped me a lot!

Being a new newbie with so many unanswered question this site has helped me a bunch

The site has helped me by bestowing new information upon me that I would not have known otherwise. In other words, it has enhanced my fund of knowledge.

:yeahthat:

of course, allnurses makes us all better nurses. why? because in this quest for knowledge in the important profession of nursing, it is so much better to have others that are going through or have gone through it. i have gotten answers to questions that i have not been able to find any other place. everyones knowledge and experiences are extremely helpful and educational.

thank you allnurses and all the wonderful nurses that make it up...:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe

Helping me network

:yeah:if you guys are fishing for compliments.........you got them......the sharing of stories and ideas is what has started the entire medical profession .....i am not a computer savy person and don't even check my email every day or week or somestimes for a month or two....but when i have a nursing question allnurses.com is one of the resourc...es i choose to turn to ...... so YES I think it makes me a better nurse.... thanks:loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya:

WOW better a hard thing to claim. It makes us more informed, as well opens us to others ideas and concepts. it seems that when we stay just within our small local circle that we miss out on whats going on at other places. This method od networking helps in keeping some of us re-inventing the wheel, in a sense of folks sharing both problems and solutions. This site certainly helps the bound and help maintain our brother/Sisterhood of our profession. I may have not actually made me a better nurse. BUT it did help me stay in nursing....
