Help!
All of the classes that I am taking this semester I absolutely NEED this semester in order to start clincals in Jan.
I missed priority registration due to an illness and hospitalization.
So, I got stuck with late registration and a terrible choice of classes.
After working on it for 2 days, I came up with my schedule, and there was only one way to possibly schedule all of my classes (more than a fulltime load).
My problem is that I have a 3:00-4:45pm class (Dev. Psych) at one campus location and a 5pm class (A&P) at another location. With rush hour traffic, I really dont see how I can make it into the 5pm class on time. A&P is important!
The only solution I can think of is to explain my problem to the Dev Psych teacher if I can leave class early. But I have no idea how this will go over with her, have never had her before....
I don't even want to ask.....but I can't think of any other solution.
I'm very good at Psych, and don't think it will affect my grade, ect...but still....
Has anyone ever had a similar situation? What would you do?

Considering this is the only way you can get your courses, yes.......tell the instructor what your problem is. I am sure there is some solution this instructor AND the A and P instructor can work on with you.

Sorry to hear about your illness and hospitalization and how this has impacted your scheduling of classes. Is there any way that you can take an online class to meet your prerequisite/preclinical class requirements, i.e. Dev Psych online? It sounds like you would have to leave class pretty early, every class day and this is not appropriate.
You are correct that A & P is important, but requesting to leave psych early everyday for A & P (because it is important) can imply that Dev Psych isn't important, even if this is not what you say or mean.
It doesn't hurt to discuss you problem with the professor, but I would do this before registering for the course. However, if I were you I would explore all other options because it truly isn't fair to you, the professor or your classmates to expect that you can leave class early everyday to attend A & P.
Best of luck to you, I do hope things work out.

My dev. psych class always let out early anyway....and as long as you are doing the work and getting the grade you desire, you instructor should have no problem with it. I would def. make sure to mention it to her though, that you plan to leave a little early each class. And remember, you are paying for this education, they cannot hold you against your will!!!LOL! I actually don't see that you even need to explain WHERE you are going, just that you must be out of class, say by 4:30p in order to meet other committments, but that you are going to put forth all the effort required by the course.

already have explored all possible options. my option is that i have no other options...lol.
i have emailed her to discuss this with her. we'll see what she says. i honestly don't see how 15 mins off of the end of an hour and 45 min class will be too hurtful, they usually let out early anyhow.

I had a similar problem, needing to leave class early, and it was (essentially) the same course you're describing. I knew in order to take that class (twice a week) that I might have to leave as much as 20 minutes early on occasion. It wasn't every time, and I had made arrangements to make it as little as possible, but there was still a good chance of it happening from time to time. I explained to my instructor on the first day of class that I needed to meet my son's schoolbus, that I had made arrangements with a neighbor to get him on the days I had class, but that there were days she couldn't do it. The instructor was very understanding and said as long as I got the notes, and my grades weren't suffering, it would be fine.
As it turned out, she often let the class out five or ten minutes early, and I only had to leave a few times, but she WAS willing to accept me leaving each time, if necessary. She appreciated knowing in advance what I wanted to do, and ASKING her...made all the difference!
(oh, and I got an A :) )

I had the same problem during summer courses a couple of years ago. Microbio all morning 5 days a week, then Physiology 3 days a week. The micro prof REFUSED to let me leave early, but the physio prof was very understanding and said "no prob" if I were a little late every class. WHEW. She'd been teaching pre-med, pre-nursing students for years and was very sympathetic to the issues we faced in getting our prereqs done.

Talk to your instructor. Some will bend over backwards for you and will understand. If not, then consider taking it at a later time. Good luck to you. :)

Just tell her you'll need to leave 15 minutes early everyday and call someone in your class to see if you missed anything. Chances are she'll let the class out early sometimes anyway. Good luck and I hope this works out for you. :)
p.s. try sending her an email before class starts and talk with her about it.
Well, the instructor emailed me back and told me that I could not leave early.
So, this messes EVERYTHING up for me. I HAD to have this class this semester. There are no other options....Now I have to postpone clinicals for an entire year. This is not good news. I'm really, really upset.

Why can't you do the class on-line? I am sure that it is offered that way, perhaps at another school.

Sorry to hear this, can you take an online class for one of them? Best of luck to you.
