Discounts for nurses

So I was doing some Christmas shopping for my wife the other day at New York and Company when I noticed a slip of paper by the register that said, "service occupation discount codes" and it listed Police, Fire, EMT, Teacher and Nurse. I asked the clerk, "I'm a nurse, do I get some kind of discount?" She had me show her proof (I happened to have my license in my wallet) and I got 15% off, ON TOP OF THE SALE PRICE!

I got to thinking, this wasn't even advertised, I happened to see this piece of paper that was codes for the employee to use on the register, I wonder if there are other places out there like this. Does anyone know??

Wow I would have to wait until I graduate and get licensed but I buy A LOT of clothes from NY and Company. Nice to know, I'm dragging my teacher friend to NYC this weekend hehe use his discount.

Great! i dont make retail workers go out of their way for me since thats what im doing in the time being.. but i will mention this.

Life uniform will sometimes give a 10% discount if you are a nursing student. and when i was a hospital volunteer they gave me an additional 10% off too.

The local Jack in the Box offers discounts for hospital employees.

I cant believe it, I shop there all the time and I never knew. I think Ann Taylor Loft does something like this for teachers.

The biggest one of these discounts is your cell phone company. Just about all the carriers have discounts for public service workers. I got a 15% TMobile discount just by showing my hospital ID. :yeah:

They don't like to advertise these things, but you usually get it with no questions asked when you inquire about it.

My employer group has a 25% discount with ATT. Also we get a discount at the optical center on campus, Apple store on computers, they have a website where staff can download Free or nominal cost software (free anti-virus and free microsoft office). There are deals to be had, just do a little name dropping. I am NEVER ashamed to get a discount.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

The Swan and Dolphin hotels (Westin) on WDW property in Orlando offer discounts to nurses :D They offer the same discount to a couple of other occupations as well including teachers.

Sweeeeeet!!!

I don't know of too many - Caldwell College offers a 25% discount on tuition for firefighters and police (only know cause i took classes there!)

This is not an advertisement for T-Mobile, but I used to be a sales leader for them. T-Mobile offers a lot of discounts depending on where you work, where you went to school, who you have insurance through... It is usually between 10% to 15%. Sometimes, they will offer waived activation fees etc. as well. They were trying to make a big push of that in store for a little while.

Sweet!!! Off I go.........

This just totally made my day! All my clothes come from New York & Company!! :) too bad I'm still in school...

For NY & Company, you can use the offer code 7472 online to get the nurse discount!

I saw an advertisement on facebook, and came here to share this very thing! Good thing I did a search first:lol2:
