I drive 85 miles one way to one of my jobs. Have to go early and stay in a hotel if bad weather is expected. The job is worth the drive though so I do it. It is better and safer to find a closer job if possible though. I don't recommend going this far.
I am always afraid of falling asleep at the wheel.
My job is about 30 minutes away in good weather. It can take over an hour if the roads are real bad. I live up in the sticks, and sometimes they don't plow our road at all. I have had to spend the night at the hospital a few times.
Some people at our hospital have a good 45 minutes on dry road commute.
I'm probably not going to make any friends with this reply, but I have about a 4 minute commute. I work at a small community hospital and it's literally about 1 mile up the road. In cold weather, I don't even bother turning the heat on, because it never heats up the car in time.
Wow, that sounds nice! With a distance like that, I'd probably walk to work during the nice season. I used to work at a hospital which was about 1/2 mile from my apartment. Probably more like a 1/4 mile, now that I think about it. Sigh! Gone are those days.

same here it takes me about 5 mins to get to work.
I'm currently working a job w/ a 30 minute commute ... often a 45 minute commute in winter d/t snow. I just took a new job with a 1 hr commute, a lot of it on back roads, but the increase in salary and better working conditions makes it worth it. We'll move over that way more when the lease is up, until then, I'll be commuting. My current positions is 12h days, my new one is 8h nights. Can't wait!

I'm just wondering how long is other people's commute times to work/nursing school ? I'll be starting a new job in February which will require a 45 min- 1 hr commute each way, 3 days a week, and I'm kind of nervous about it because I've never had a longer commute than maybe 20 minutes. I'll be working day shift.
