CNA Test: Failed one task :(

i passed the written part, and failed one out of 5 tasks, which was passing fresh water. apparently, i didnt tell the examiner i washed my hands before the task. that cost me the entire test. i am really upset...but life goes on. i have to re-test. will they make me re-do the passing fresh water task, or will i have to study all tasks, and one will be randomly chosen?

i was very upset yesturday....but need to get up, dust myself off, and study again. at least i passed the written part yey! and didn't fail other 4 tasks.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you about your test. As for your next test you will probably get a new set of skills, so I would study all of them. There is a chance you will get the passing fresh water again.

Good Luck with studying and on your next test!

I'm sorry to hear this. Wow! Passing water! That wasn't a task we had to learn for the exam. In any case, study all the skills. For my skills my sister was my patient and I had to perform 'dressing',' Range of Motion' lower extremities, and 'pulse and resp'. And course handwashing and indirect care. Good luck on your retake.

Sorry to hear you failed the skills part of the exam. However, just like NYDreamer I never had to study "passing fresh water", never even heard of it. My skills were dressing, ROM to lower extremity and Pulse and Resp. So as someone else said just study all the skills.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!

im sorry you failed. but in my book you passed. when you get ready to re-test listen very careful for the task they will ask you to do ok. the first task you want to do is wash your hands in front of the tester ok. especially when brushing dentures, feeding, changing and passing water. i had a tester have me give her a sponge bath i don't remember washing my hands oops lol!

I sorry you didn't pass, but I'm also curious. What could you have done wrong while passing water? That doesn't seem on a par with transferring a patient or feeding or turning.

Good luck on your next try.

The headmaster's letter states: 1 skill failed. And then: Skill failed: passing fresh water. Details: Did not mention washing hands before the task...

:: I just forgot. I would never NOT wash hands in a real life situation. I was stressed and forgot....

Those pesky practical tests make everyone miss some stupid little task.

Best of luck on your retest! I bet you won't miss the washing hands step next time!

i failed it too... i missed the skill of positioning a patient and i was told to turn pt to the left from the back...

well, i was actually challenging the test so all i knew was the real world and in the real world one patient is not going to have 6 or 7 pillows to pad all of the pressure points, but on this test, you had to...

so i only used 2, when i needed you know, like, all of the pillows on the floor for this one patient...

you'll do better next time and on the bright side you don't have to worry about the written part again.

good luck to you!!

I am sorry to hear that you have to retake your exam. I have never heard of passing water as one of the skills. In fact, I am sort of pissed to hear that a person would actually consider failing someone because of such a silly thing. But, as others have said, you do have to mention that you washed your hands before doing anything to a patient and also, it is a strong likelihood that you will get totally different skills to perform for the next time, so review everything! Good luck!

I think I would appeal the failure. I would write a polite letter stating that you know the importance of hand hygiene as part of infection control and that you would never omit that step as part of patient care.

Hi:

I'm so sorry that you failed that skill test. I'm pretty sure that you will pass the next time!

I will be taking the CNA classes next week, can anyone give some advice? Thanks.

Just study skills, I would say. The written test is very easy, common sense mostly. You will have 90 minutes, I was done in 10 minutes.
