Back stabbing

I'm currently a second yr student nurse and I'm really disappointed in my fellow tem members. I find as a student you are often being discourage into the profession by mentors and their behaviour towards each other is little better than squabbling five year olds. I'm feed up with hearing mentors and health care support workers slag each other off in my presence, not only does it make me feel uncomfortable but it also makes me doubt entering a profession where the MDT cant remain professional at work. During this placement I have seen a fellow student leave the ward in tears twice due to the aggression her mentors have portrayed towards her. Luckily I have a great support system behind me so when I get home I can vent to them, go back on the ward and take their behaviour with a pinch of salt, and lashings of vodka on the wkend. Just want to know is it this bad when you qualify? or r there any other students that experience difficult placements, if so what are your coping strategies.

Thanks for allowing me to vent:nuke:

hi all, i totally agree about the nurses calling each other names. i joined nursing school in september 07, i had my first placement in november it lasted till february and it was the worst experience of my life. i have two children who behave better than them on this ward, the nurses were lazy to say the least they would bully the students to do everything and the students did because they were afraid of getting fails on their practise documents. i to witnessed a student crying because she was bullied i reported the state of the ward when i went back to school. I also reported to the nurses on the ward that five patients had the beginnings of pressure sores on the bottoms and nothing was done. It was like they did'nt like the student telling them anything. I hope i never have to set foot on that ward again i would rather leave.:madface:

were is your home trust and what uni are you at

in manc as well

i am mentoring a student at the moment over here, and its very different to back home apart from the fact that she is so young, she is very eager to learn. even a few years ago, some of the students,,,and these were mature ones! were as rough as they come, weekends spent boozing and fighting and looking like they had been dragged through a hedge backwards when they came to work. at the end of the day, nursing is a profession and although the stress of being there gets to you, we all have to deal with it including the students.

What words that then lol:D:lol2::lol2:

Another word for a female dog?? :uhoh3:

some words that are acceptable to us brits is frowned upon by the americans, my friend posted a mild derogatory word on here and the american moderator changed the word into a more offensive one to us,,,,,,only they didnt know it.

they'll cotton on soon enough though - so many uk actors teaching them! especially on "er" - i can't believe how often the pretty english speaking indian doc (won't begin to try & spell her name) gets away with the "w" word & the dog's "b" word!:lol2:

not that i got away with even "starring" out the latter on here!! just having the beginning letter got me told off :D

she gets away with the w...... word because the word doesnt exist over here so no-one knows what it is that she is saying !!!!

Well if you work it out, let me know, cuz I can't think what it could be. The only offensive "W" word I can think of rhymes with Banker :omy:
