All night cramming....

Published

I'm just taking a study break, it's 4:15 am here in Texas, and I thought I'd log on and remind all of you guys out of school what it was like to cram all night the night before finals.....school is heaven, wasn't it?? This is me  This is what I should be doing :zzzzz It's enough to drive anyone loony, isn't it? :chuckle

Bad practice! Cramming will only make it worse. Learn as you go. You should be relaxing and having fun the night before any exam. I always go to a late movie and then eat at a late night restaurant the eve of test day. I figure if I don't know the material by then, I don't deserve to pass. Not flaming you.

We were taught never to using cramming as a study method and always get a good nights sleep - best thing to do. Good luck and try to get some rest. :)

:eek:Cramming is not good. It actually can make a person get the info mixed up. TRUST me, it happened to me.

Always get a good night's sleep (if possible) the eve before a test. Look over your notes the morning of the test for about 30-40 minutes. That helped me more than anything. That, and putting the info in flashcard form.

Good luck!!!:)

I really hate to burst everyones bubble, but cramming works great for me. And I do retain the info for the final. It's just how some of us are!

Me too... always have been ... always will be... got me through nursing school w/ a 3.6 GPA so obviously it works for some people. :) And I do retain it......

I worked full time and went to school. Our tests were always on a Monday. I would sometimes spend the hours and hours studying for a test, because there was barely time to keep up, much less "study as you go". Was too old and tired to pull an all nighter, however, but I remember well those late nights with four or five hours sleep. Glad it's over!

Good luck.

I contemplate tomorrows Mental Health Challenges final with the help of a fine Candian pilsener....that's beer :D

Stress free living is the way to go folks!

Thanks for all the responses guys. Well, the cramming worked---got an A. Finished this semester with 4 A's, 2 Bs. I'm a happy camper. Cramming and studying the night before has always been my successful M.O. but hey, if you're one of those people who can retain knowledge days in advance, more power to ya!:D

Thumbs up ! Job well done - - -

You mentioned retaining knowledge---cramming puts information into short term memory. There will come a time when you will need to recall information in order to perform professionally. What the posts were saying is "learning" is more effective than "memorizing". I hope you continue to do well.

I study as I go and then end up cramming. It always seems like I just start to get the info the day before the test and finally figure out the best way to get it in my head to stay there.

You also got to remember a lot of the material you cover in basic bio will show up in micro or anatomy and physiology so that helps to retain needed info for later professional use :)
