I'm trying to decide here. Are there any real benefits to joining AACN? Any reason I shouldn't? TIA!

Benefits - Monthly critical care magazine with interesting articles, some free CEUs on website, $$ off on CCRN certification testing.
Disadvantage - It costs money.......I forget how much, but I joined.

AACN now offers FREE UNLIMITED CEU's for their members. Something new they just started via their website.

I am also a member, and I really like getting all the magazines!! There is a lot of good info in them. The only downside to it is the cost.

Membership in AACN is the cheapest specialty organization out there. Check the membership dues for the emergency nurses.....it's a LOT more money than $78! I am really gonna enjoy the free CEU's considering I've got a lot to earn to renew my CCRN in 2009!

I have a student membership ($52 for one year) and it's been great having access to the journal.
Additionally, a new local chapter just broke ground in my area, started by the nurses I work with in my ICU. I've helped design their website, and once I graduate, I plan to be quite active in it.

the only reason i maintain my membership is for the free ceu's and the monthly critical care mag, for which half of it is full of advertisments and other nonsense, so about 10-15 pages worth of somewhat interesting reading...

I have been a member for some time now and enjoy the magazine and the other items on the website that is only offered to members. You get discounts for other things as well.
I think it is a nice way to network with others.
For 78 dollars a year...I am ok with it!

I have been a member for 8 years. It costs $78/year (these costs have not gone up since I joined in 2000).
The benefits are two great informative journals, other professional resources-online access- up to date information
you can sign up for the email newsletter
Free CEUs yearly
Discounts on the yearly NTI
ideas to network with other professionals
information on certification if that is a route you plan to take
