night shift and holiday pay

How does holiday pay work for night shift at your workplace? Do you get paid holiday pay for the morning of the holiday (midnight-6) or that night (six-midnight)?

And is there anything to be expected for the time change coming up this weekend as far as working nights?

Thanks ;)

We get paid for the night shift before the holiday, except for July 4. That's the only "day of" holiday for us. And it's for the full 12 hours of the shift.

We get paid midnight to midnight on the actual day of the holiday. On the time change nights will work 13 hours and days will work 11 and get paid accordingly. The extra hour will be paid with shift diff.

In both hospitals I work in... if you work the night shift, you get holiday pay the night before....

So say your on for christmas......12/25... you get paid your holiday time if you come in on 12/24 @ 11pm or 7pm and work into 12/25 (because the majority of your shift is technically 12/25)

I work nights at one of my jobs and the schedule took some getting used to because say your on the paper as 11-7 tuesday...it means you come in @ 11pm Monday.....

We only get paid extra from 0001 to 2359. So if you want 12 hours of holiday pay you have to work the night before and the night of... You get holiday pay from 0001-0700, then 1900-2359, kind of sucks. The day shifters get 12 hours, of course, in one shift. As for daylight savings you only get paid for 11 hours in the spring but 13 hours in the fall.

Daylight Savings Time ends 11/6/2011.

I usually always got night holiday pay only on the actual day so yes, it really bites to have to come in on Christmas and only get 1 hour of holiday pay.

No longer working holidays and I do not miss it.

Our holiday pay is paid for your whole shift as long as you work a minimum of 4 hours of the holiday.
