Nights/Weekend Nursing School?

Hello,

I'm looking to begin nursing school, but have to be able to work. Does anyone know of any accelerated BSN programs that offer nights/weekend classes? I live in the Philadelphia area so I would be willing to travel to New Jersey or Delaware as well as Pennsylvania.

Thanks!

Nights and Weekend Nursing Programs

Finding a nursing program that accommodates a full-time work schedule requires looking for "part-time" or "evening/weekend" tracks. While many Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) programs are designed as full-time, immersive experiences that discourage outside employment, several institutions in the tri-state area offer flexible pathways for working professionals.

Strategic Steps for Program Selection

  • Verify Accreditation: Ensure the program is accredited by the CCNE or ACEN to guarantee the degree is recognized by State Nursing Boards for licensure.
  • Clinical Placement Schedules: Some programs offer evening lectures but require daytime clinical rotations. Confirm if clinical hours are also available on weekends.
  • Hybrid Options: Look for programs that utilize asynchronous online learning for didactic coursework, reducing the need for physical travel during the work week.

Regional Options and Resources

In the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware regions, several universities cater to non-traditional students. It is essential to research the Best Nursing Schools in these specific states to compare their specific scheduling formats and NCLEX pass rates.

Program Type Typical Schedule Pros/Cons
Traditional ABSN Monday-Friday, Daytime Fastest completion; difficult to work.
Evening/Weekend Track Nights and Saturdays Maintains income; longer duration.
Hybrid/Online Didactic Flexible Online + In-person Clinicals Reduced commute; requires high self-discipline.

Have you already completed the necessary science prerequisites for these programs?
