I would choose differently.

I don't know what else I would do but I would probably do something else.

I would choose differently but not because I dislike my job. Its how you asked the question "If I knew then what I know now". I would pick a career that also interests me for gaining knowledge in that area. I've always been a jack of all trades kinda guy, love learning about whatever!

The field wreaks havoc on your body...it is hard to properly take of yourself...for that reason...I would do something else.

I would do the same. Just the experiences with certain patients...as cliche as it is, the opportunities to serve as a nurse is unlike any other profession. My best and most quality times have been outside the hospital setting, though, for what it's worth. If I only knew hospital nursing, I would have left nursing long ago.

Agree.

I've nurse outside the hospital setting, and I have been empowered and those experiences I can not take away; I work in the acute care setting now, but my experiences help me transcend and be able to thrive in an acute care setting, and appreciate what I do in that aspect.

In short, I would do something else.

Im a new grad, so I doubt my answer carries much weight considering I haven't had a whole lot of experience, so reader beware.

I would do it again, but I would do it differently and maybe start sooner and finish sooner. I'm 24 and just now starting my career and I feel kinda behind. NONETHELESS, Im proud to be a nurse and I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else. I hope this feeling never goes away.

It has been a great career for me - I have worked in may different positions and settings. I learned so much and still learn every single day...

And for me it is also a lot about being authentic and the human connections.

I'm 40 and just started nursing school. So don't worry. You're not really that behind. :-)
