Would you do it all over again?

If you had it to do all over, would you become a nurse again? Why or why not?

Well, I really do like my job and I am very glad I went into nursing. But if I had to do it over, I probably would have went to pharmacy school.

Yea I would but I would get my BSN to begin with and would have stayed in Cardiac where my passion is.

Today, I'm really not sure. I feel like I'm hemorrhaging empathy trying to motivate patients and their families to make good health decisions, and hemorrhaging patience with doctors trying to get appropriate plans of care set into motion. Maybe my exhaustion is benefiting my patients, maybe I've changed some lives, but overall I just don't think I've done as much good as I had hoped when I was in school.

I feel similar to you often. I should be anemic by now with all of the energy that is drained from me at times. In addition, OTHER NURSES drain me. Their whining, backstabbing, insanity, bullying. And, I don't even have that many problems with them...but tired of hearing about them and witnessing. And, I must give off something that many of the same insane people I just mentioned want to come to ME to vent. If they only knew that many days, I imagine a trap door opening underneath them and they suddenly fall away from me...that would actually make me smile... :D

I thought about mentioning how coworker can be draining too... but I didn't have the energy- lol!

Yes, but like many differently. I do not have my BSN and I'm going back for that as soon as I can.

NO WAY!!!!!!!
