I could work 24/7. The question here is not how many hours.. are many are SAFE hours.It's NOT about the nurses earning potential... you must take into consideration how you can perform with so many hours, especially on the night shift.
my full time job is in PDN, so a bit less taxing. I don't think I could work the floor for that many hours unless I was single and childless. But then I probably wouldn't need to.
I work 3-12's at my FT job in the ED and work 16-24 hours at my PRN job every other week. Sometimes when The PRN place doesn't have hours I want, I will pick up a shift at my FT place but I try not to. Even if the money is good it is too much time at the same place and I don't want to get burnt out. I also only work overtime every other week for the same reason. All my overtime money gets put in my savings account for extras like vacation, new clothes, etc.

How many hours do y'all work a paycheck? Myself I usually work 100+ hours, all by choice mind you. This paycheck I am on for 5 off 1 on 5 off 3 I work nights and 12 hour shifts. Am I just crazy or are more people like me out there?
