Why is it...

That people can't read the entire thread, or at least the initial post if the thread is over 3 pages, before they answer a question?

I have seen it time and time again. Someone will explain a scenario and then ask for advice. It never fails that someone will come along and give advice that is something that the OP has listed as being done in the initial post.

I.E: I have this patient and yada, yada, yada. Then we had a consult with so-and-so specialty which said we need to do this. The next few posters will have some good advice then there will be this one poster who you can tell didn't bother to read the entire OP by saying you need a consult with so-and-so specialty so they can do this. HELLO, that was already done and it didn't help.

Now, just to clarify, I AM NOT talking about those threads that run 30 or 40 pages. I'm talking about reading the initial questions before you put your two cents in.

i also want to know why it is that people post their little story and then ask for advice or opinion. when you give it, they bite your head off, want to argue or they come back with a whole bunch of new information that they conveniently left out of their original post that changes the entire issue.

it's ok with me, i always learn useful things from the side comments that might not have been made if the initial post had been more complete.

i've seen that a couple or three times. i don't know why they do that. i've also seen threads get closed down or disappear because things get heated when they don't need to be heated.

I don't understand if you are going to get mad about the answers that people give, then don't ask. You have to know that not everyone is going to see things from your point of view. Get over it. If someone asks or says something you don't agree with you don't have to take their advice. Just overlook it.

:w00t: Finally, someone else who understands the, " If you don't like it, don't look at it" premise.

I figure if a post makes someone upset, they should avoid it instead of making comments that get a good thread removed. Or wait a awhile to post.

Some ppl just see the title and think that is all there is to the thread and then answer. Not sure if it is intentional, laziness or what.

Some ppl want opionions but only if they are what the OP wants to hear, they don't take constructive critisizm very well.

What I also gets me is when some replies to a thread and it has absolutly nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

nteracting to a question or issue on the internet is so different than what we respond to in person. In person we see body language, hear tone of voice and are probably even privy to some of the information or problem in a personal manner. I would like to respond to the initial questions here on allnurses but after 4 or 5 pages of responses I usually seem to lose perspective...the initial person isn't there adding responses. So often I just don't give any response I just read everyone elses opinions or suggestions and say, 'OK thats sounds good' to myself and stroll on to the next post.

Hahaha it's like that darn "orangejello and lemonjello" names in the Weirdest Names thread!!! Some one posts that name on almost every page!!!

i agree, if you don't want advice, don't post, and if we need more information to give that advice, please come back and repost or we can't help by playing detective, just banter back and forth hypothetical scenarios with alternate outcomes
