Why is it...

That people can't read the entire thread, or at least the initial post if the thread is over 3 pages, before they answer a question?

I have seen it time and time again. Someone will explain a scenario and then ask for advice. It never fails that someone will come along and give advice that is something that the OP has listed as being done in the initial post.

I.E: I have this patient and yada, yada, yada. Then we had a consult with so-and-so specialty which said we need to do this. The next few posters will have some good advice then there will be this one poster who you can tell didn't bother to read the entire OP by saying you need a consult with so-and-so specialty so they can do this. HELLO, that was already done and it didn't help.

Now, just to clarify, I AM NOT talking about those threads that run 30 or 40 pages. I'm talking about reading the initial questions before you put your two cents in.

I figure the answers to all of these things are:

  1. we are all human! otherwise the world would be boring
  2. sometimes it takes forever to read through 20 pages, and it is not surprising that ppl tend to read only the beginning and the end
  3. you can be in the middle of a post - so can someone else at a similar time; their post may get posted just before yours, so it looks like you haven't read all the entries. Then you look like an eejit for repeating what the person said above you (wonder if this is about to happen to me)

I'm glad I know the answers to everything:devil:. I even know the answer to the meaning of life:

'42'

For those who know the 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' - now thats off topic...

I agree with the reading of multiple pages becoming tedious but some people don't even bother to read the beginning. A thread growing a life of it's own can be very informative and, at times, quite entertaining. As for the posting the same time and advice as someone else, that only lets me know that the inofmation posted is good and deserves more than a passing glance.

Thanks to all who have answered here, I thought I might be the only one who this bothered. And thank you for not jumping on my case! You guys ROCK!!!

I mean no offense, but I found a bit of irony within this thread, plus I wanted to play with the multiple quote feature...it's cool.:lol2:
