Hi! I've been trying to look for threads which can direct me to the answer and so far the only information I have gathered are:

- There are some states that do not require SSN, but they did not specify which ones

- California requires SSN

I hope some of you could be kind enough to share their knowledge with me or direct me to the thead if there is already one existing.

I am aware that BON requirements contiuously change, but at this time, which states do not require a SSN?

I need to get this information as I am going to apply to a ADN to BSN program and their major requirement is a Valid US RN License. I have no SSN so I have to apply for licensure in a state which does not require a SSN to issue a license. Thanks!

If you're referring to a Social Security Number, that's a federally issued document and as far as I know, anyone wishing to work in the US must have one.

hello everybody

can I complete my application fo RN licensure by examination without SSN

I printed all of dokuments I needed so I "m going to send them to the Illinois board of nursing but there is a gap which have to be filled with SSN

is it necessary because I haven"t such one

and if it is mandatory where I can get it from

You do not need the SSN# for Illinois to write the NCLEX exam for them.

No one can obtain a SSN# until they have gone thru the immigration process and are ready to begin work in the US and have a visa that will permit them to work. No other way to get the SSN#.

NEW PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP OR NATIONALITY REQUIREMENT FOR THE STATE OF ARIZONA:

Guess this means we can cross out Arizona from the list....I just hope the other states don't follow suit so quickly, or else we could say goodbye to our hopes of ever getting our RN licenses.

Berger,

Which state did you eventually settle on? Would you (or anybody out there for that matter) know of any state not requiring SSN and also does not require CES and CVS from CGFNS? I know Vermont doesn't but would you know of other states? I've been doing a search here but can't quite find a thread addressing my question. Hope somebody would be kind enough to offer an answer. Thank you...

Since Arizona is citing Federal Law, I would assume other states will follow. Times are getting tough.

I know this post is a year old but I want to know if it is still the same?

Can you let me know what state you were able to get through? I would appreciate if you would like to share more information on this:)

Thanks much!

Actually that's not something new, looks like most states are leaning towards a valid ss#. Also keep in mind that when applying for nusing schools that require already a RN license, they require a RN license from the state that they're going to work in.
