Curious to what any of you think of 5 week classes?
I was hoping to complete A&P I this summer and they are only offering a 5 week class. I'm a little nervous about cramming all that information in 5 weeks and doing well with it. I will also be taking a Biology class but it is a 10 week class. Any advice? I need A&P I in order to get into the nursing program I was just hoping i'd be able to take it this summer instead of waiting till the fall.

Does your school offer tutoring over the summer semester or are u taking the class with someone you know or taken a class with before?
I've taken the class once before over 5 years ago so it's been awhile. I'm having to take it again as it's over 5 years old and the NS requires it to be less than 5 years. Not sure about the tutoring and I don't knwo anyone else taking it.
Great minds think alike! Since you've already taken A&P I would you take it in a 5 week period? Good luck on deciding if you want to take yours in four weeks!
To be honest, I probably wouldn't, which is crazy because I am considering A&P II in that short of a time frame. The reason I say no is because it took me some time to get "in the groove" and figure out my strategies. I ended up buying the Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards about 1/3 of the way through A&P I, started playing around with Anatomy Arcade, got used to taking the lab practicals and doing the exam objectives, and it took me a few weeks to get used to it all. Now I know what to expect and think I could do the same thing, but in faster succession for A&P II. That's the only reason I'd hesitate to do A&P I over the summer, but like someone else said to me, you could use ratemyprofessor.com to check up on your professor and see how well liked their classes are.

I say go for it. You'll be doing a lot of studying in those five weeks, but at least you'll get it done. I've taken 3 week classes (although much less challening) and did fine.
Thanks for all the replies!
After discussing it with husband i've decided to go for it. He'll deploy right before I start the class and i'm not working right now, so I should have plenty of time to study without any distractions.

I am in an accelerated ADN and ALL of my classes are 5 weeks long. I have a previous bachelors and we did 8 week classes, that was a cake walk compared to this! I can tell you a lot of people struggle with this and that we started out with 30 original students in our first mod and now have less then half of them.
I am picking it all up and retaining very well, but I am a minority in that sense. I have to 100% dedicate my life to school though. I am thankful that I have a great hubby and do not have to work, we also have no kids. I ALWAYS study and I stay ahead. I make sure I do all my reading before lectures and I never save anything for the last minute.
I am coming from electronics so I have zero health background. The most I ever got was mass casualty drills in the military.
Since you have a military hubby and he is going on deployment that will help you. My hubby deploys about 2 weeks out of every month, I am not joking. So I always study ahead while he is away. Us military wives and former active duty are tough, we can handle anything!

Summer session courses are usually only five weeks in Arkansas. Let's see my first year of college I took composition I and II in the summer, the next year U.S. history I and II along with college algebra, later microbiology and [computer] programming languages and logic, and later principles of accounting I and II and quantitative analysis. Because of all of that I finished school a year early.
A year later for fun I took anatomy and physiology I and II over the summer. I also took other business and accounting courses over time to get a second degree (BBA in Accounting), but I later gave up on it as I was losing interest.
So as you can see summer classes are not only doable - they're enjoyable. Get in and get it done. Love it. I wish all of my college classes had been only five weeks, and now that I'm back in school for a second degree and potential career change I wish all of my nursing courses were as short.
I like learning, and I'm still an idiot. I should've just bought books off of Amazon instead of taking all of those classes, lol.

Heck yeah! If that is the only class you are taking, that is a great schedule. I am a big fan of block schedules. I prefer short classes, but only focusing on one subject at a time. I always loved taking classes in the summer for that reason! I learn a lot more when I only have to study for one class. I took chemistry 2 in 1 month and learned tons more than I did the first time I tried to take it over a fall semester. I really wish my nursing school only had one class at a time, but oh well, I'm doing the best with what I'm given!
