Discussion

this website....

I would just like to say that I've noticed a lot of 'snotty' 'sarcastic' comments to a lot of the posts on the site. Is that really necessary?? This is supposed to be a supportive, informative place, not a cynical, negative place.

Nursing attracts all kinds of personalities, just like any career. I try to take everything with a grain of salt & I don't engage w/the few who come across as bossy & argumentative. (& it does seem to be the same ones who do this). Some people just always have to have the last word- no skin off my nose to let them. I'm just thankful I don't have to work with them!!

:D

All I can say is ALLNURSES ROCK!!! Everything said here is a matter of opinion.

I agree. There are a handful of nurses that I only know through allnurses and yet I feel as if they are friends. By participating on this site I have learned new things and changed my opinion just from reading different perspectives that I wouldn't have considered if someone didn't have the courage to put it out there.

I know there are people that only want others to agree with them and that is cool, I just wish they would come right out and write that in their post. Cyber hugs and blind support is fine if that is what the OP wants and being up front about it would would save others from thinking they might have posted in order to consider other viewpoints.

I would definitely agree with Jules. I appreciate other points of view and am appreciative of the experiences of both new grads and seasoned nurses who post here regularly.

I think that a few discussion topics can get heated (due to the sensitive nature of the topics), but we are human and all have strong opinions regarding our personal experiences. I still wouldn't have AN any other way.

Keep on keepin' on! ;)

I appreciate everyone's comments, however, I think a lot of people are taking my post too literal. Overall, it is supportive, and positive, I was just commenting.

well...

i don't think it's realistic to expect all positive responses on such a large bb.

afterall, we are comprised of many different personalities, quirks and all.

if your overall impression is that it's generally supportive, we'll take it.

i think it's helpful to keep what is worth keeping, and blow the rest away.

it's all about perspective.

and welcome aboard!

I guess it's kind of like if someone called your dog "ugly"! We all get a little defensive when some picks on our "baby"!!!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah:

Don't sweat it. It made for a great thread. Thanks!

There is only one thread that I have had a problem with- but it was a sensitive topic- it went from Nursing to the war in Iraq- and people just have their own very strong opinions- but I take everything anyone says with a grain of salt- you can't let stuff like that get to you- like everyone else said- this is a place to go to for support- and sometimes you will prob have disagreements- you just have to agree to disagree sometimes and let it go. But so far that I have been on this site- I have loved it- even the differences on some days. I would say just let it go- and move past it. But if it makes you feel better to report them then report away. I don't take it too seriously though...

Well happy posting to everyone! LOL

Wow..if people think this site has rude people on it you should go to the student doctor site. They literally rip people from end to end and are downright abusive there. This site is downright angelic compared to that.

You may not always like the answers you receive when you ask a question or post a debatable topic, but you can always count on honest and sincere responses. I love this board and am thankful for its existance. The information found here is invaluable.
