I was working last night and had a 5 year old brought in by ems her mom is a known drug seeker. I spend time with the child to do exam, and she states her mom locks her in her room, for hours at a time and doesn't feed her. she only eats when she eats at school. So I call child sevices the local pd. I give the patient food and her meds, etc. and child services and the police show up and the mom gets in my face cursing me out. I just did my job. I had to vent.

Good job! Mom was just venting all the frustration the she has about her life, her failure as a mother, and her drug abuse. The feeling that you may have saved that child's life should far outweigh Mom's outburst. Thank you!

You did the right thing! And so what if mom starting cussing, she should have been escorted out by security. Her outburst is a sign of her guilt.
mom went to jail child was transferred to a pediatric hospital. And I feel as if I saved the childs life. The child also was found to have a broken arm.

How sad. Makes me think of that Pat Benatar song "Hell is for children". Who knows what might have happened to the child if you hadn't intervened. You did a good thing.

This is what its all about! You could have saved that kids life, at the very least your intervention will have probably made that kids life much more bearable. You not only did the right thing morally, you did the right thing legally...we are mandated reporters for exactly cases like this.
