As for shoes.... I found a good pair-nursemates dove, well i haven't received them yet but i heard good things about them. I went to shoeline and bought them this morning, if you put in nurse1209 in the coupon code you well get 20 percent off which takes off 11 dollars! Save your money!!!

Thanks for the info Meghan. I have a high arch and some of the shoes on this site look like they may work for me.

Good luck Albkat and all is on with the new move. Wish I could stop working ;).

Yup ms sealy I'm very blessed that my oldest sister just happens to live in between and is letting me have a room in her house rent free! I had to move down from huntsville so that would have been very stressful looking for a job too. I already unpacked and decorated! I love it and the beach is literally the next street over! I'm so excited for this year! Everything is falling into place :) hope everyone is doing well and has a great holiday!

Stupid question: Does anyone know what we are supposed to wear for orientation? Scrubs or regular clothes. I know they take our picture for our badge which made me think that we need to wear scrubs. I have no clue!

On another note. I got an apartment at the Villa Marina apts. right next to campus. They have gotten some pretty bad reviews in the past. But they have new managment and I have heard they have changed their ways. I am in the new building on Harborside Dr. (as opposed to the older ones a little further down on Ferry Rd.). I am on the bottom floor (which I am not too excited about). All the bottom floor apartments had to be redone after Ike- so I have all new everything (carpet, appliances, bathtub etc.) and I will be the first one to live in it. The rent in $809/month but with ALL bills paid- so it's not a bad deal.

Anyone else found a place in Galveston yet?

Hope everyone is enjoying our last few days of freedom!!! :)

cjack15,

I don't think you need to wear scrubs to orientation. From what I understand you will be sitting in meetings all day so wear something you are comfortable in. Wear whatever you think would look nice in your picture because you will wear it everyday on your badge!

I got an apt in League City for $642 a month but bills aren't included so it probably comes out to the same price. I wanted to live somewhere between Galveston and Houston since I heard we will be commuting back and forth a lot. Have you moved in already? I just moved in yesterday and am getting settled in as we speak. I forgot how much work it is moving into a new place!

Hope this answers your question.

:)

Allison

Meghanm07 you really make me wanna buy those nurse mate shoes! i'm soo tempted to buy them. I'm just afraid they're not going to be what they are cut out to be. But with that price, why not give them a try :)

Yeah you can return them if you hate them, and that coupon code lasts until the 1st I believe. I just read all the reviews and most people seemed to like the shoes, I will let you know how I feel when I get mine!

Hey everyone...

So I am getting all of the PDA software online now, but I was wondering if yall knew what exactly we needed. When you click on the skyscape link, and then click our program, it has the list of 'required' software....but that's a lot! do we really need all 8 programs? Has anyone talked to anyone at utmb about this? it just seems like a lot to me. If we have to buy all of that, then that's fine, I just want to make sure before I spend more money...

Also, I am having difficulty finding UT scrubs outside of the bookstore. Have yall had any luck? I did get a lab coat at the uniform place off of delany rd in la marque where all of the outlet stores are, but the only UT scrubs they had were 3XL.

I don't know if this is all we need, but the email we got awhile ago specifically named:

Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, 21st Edition $37.46

Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses $37.46

RNotes®: Nurse's Clinical Pocket Guide $21.71

Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis $29.96

So this is what I'm starting with and will see if we need any others during orientation.

thanks shirley,

do you know the date that email was sent? i am trying to find it in my inbox

12/4 it had about 6 attachments.

Hey everyone,

I just joined this site today. I have gotten accepted into the UTMB Bacc Spring 2010 program and was wondering if anybody knew what type of clothes we had to wear for orientation. Also if they would be providing us with lunch or would we have to get our lunch ourselves?
