Two sciences at once??

Published

I have a big dilemma.. by summer of this year I'll be 18 credit hours short of applying for nursing school. The main classes I need are human anatomy part 2, General chem & General microbiology. The rest are religion courses. Can I take two sciences at once? And which ones should I take? I do work full time as well as school. I just don't want to take that extra semester for one class you know? So please help!!

I took two sciences with two other "fluffier" classes for a year. It was fine. Just stay on top of your stuff.

I did A&P with Micro.

You know your capabilities better than we do. I thought microbiology was a "blowoff" class, but found chemistry and anatomy to be very challenging. Consider you might be waiting longer than a semester (like forever) to get into a nursing program if you don't keep your grades high.

Specializes in Critical care.

I took chem 2 and micro together (and had a hour+ drive each way to the school every day) and nannied 15-20 hours a week.

Specializes in critical care, ER,ICU, CVSURG, CCU.

I took 4 in one semester

I'm doing A&P 2 with Micro now, it's not awful.

Specializes in Pedi.

Our program was set up so that we took A&P 1 and Chemistry in the same semester. People who joined the program as sophomores took A&P, Micro and Chem all in the same semester.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

I was a biology major, I took two life sciences and chemistry.

Specializes in Med/Surge, Psych, LTC, Home Health.

Numerous nursing students at my school took A+P, and microbiology at

the same time and did just fine.

I'm currently taking A&P2 and Microbiology. In my program, Micro requires a lot of memorization while A&P2 is focused on the understanding of how things work, which can be challenging at times.

Good luck!

I'm doing A&P 2 with Micro and have A's but it hard! Studying all day and I can't work because that too much with a baby too.

I took A&P I, Chem, Micro, and Human Patho all in the same semester on top of working 2 jobs and finished with a 4.0. You'll be fine!
