Thoughts on Apple's Mac

i've had my apple iBook for two years & i've LOOOOOVED it. i don't think i'll ever go back to a PC. i use the internet a lot & i used to download music & (probably because of that) i have had a huge amount of spyware & popups on all of my PCs over the years. in the two years that i've had my iBook i haven't had any problems with it & it still runs as quickly as it did when i first bought it. no spyware, no popups, no random crashing.

I just switched from PC to a Macbook 3 weeks ago...I am SO IN LOVE with this thing, I can't stand it!!! For the first three nights, i was up so late I thought my eyeballs were going to fall out of my head, but I couldn't stop playing with it/learning about it/seeing what it does.

I already understand why people say they'll never go back to PC. It's that good!

Sorry to be the spoiler here but I HATE MAC and would die before I ever go back.

I've had too many problems with their computers to count. Too expensive, too difficult to fix, they charge you for basic upgrades and other ripoffs, there's constant software compatibility problems, the operating system sucks ... the list goes on and on.

There's a reason MAC has only six percent of the computer market after all of these years ... it's a totally unreliable system.

Ugh ... just horrible, IMO.

thanks for the responses, i have another question (for mac lovers mostly)

What if you needed to print a document that you made on mac from a pc. Meaning, i like the print alot of stuff from the pc's at my job. if i made, lets a say a word document on mac, (typed an assignment in word on mac) would i have issues trying to print my document on the pc at work? hope this question makes sense.

I am a PC person as of right now, however I just bought an IPOD Nano and LOVE it. It is so easy to use and their Istore web site is also very easy to use, so who knows maybe next time I need a 'puter I will buy Apple.

I bought an Apple iBook last August (05) and absolutely adore it! We have 2 PC's in the house (both are my parent's... I would NOT use one if it were my choice!) which are filled with spyware, popups and viruses and crash ALL the time.

My Mac is the only reliable computer in the house! I LOVE it. I have not had one problem so far, but my best friend has had 3 Macs, and use them HEAVILY, and any problem they've encountered has been professionally and quickly handled by the Mac people.

You can also get a nice discount from the Apple store with a student discount if you have an ID (or online, you just click your college!). I got 100 bucks off of my iBook plus a free iPod mini for being a student when I got mine!

You should have no problem with printing from the Mac to the PC, as I do the same exact thing. I send any document from my mac to our PC downstairs, which BOTH have the office bundle with Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, eXcel, etc, and I've never had a problem...

Take the leap!

I've finally convinced my household to purchase a Macmini to replace one of our PC's... can't wait until that happens!

I bought a dell laptop last year 05' its tiny and cute and stuff, it just had its first birthday this past july and don't you know its sooooo slow now. Always spyware and viruses i have to be dealing with, im so aggravated with it. I am really considering treating myself to a the new Macbook if i get into the nursing program i applied too (I really need to stop saying if i get in and start saying WHEN i get in)

Anyway, my bestfriend has the mac G4 powerbook i think its called and she swears by it, says its the best thing ever. So i think i might save up and get one. Honestly i really don't think they are that expensive, i looked up apples website and unless the price they are going for is minus the software they seem to be pretty resonable. Plus i get a corperate discount with my hospital. (wonder if i can get both the student AND corperate discount, i think thats asking too much but one can always dream)

Anyway, i will definately keep all these wonderful comments in mind, even the non-mac lovers. I remember back in the day when i swore i would never buy an apple, but my how times have changed.

Both of my best friends have Mac (they have had NO problems) and I'm switching this coming year from my Dell PC to a Mac . . . . I am soooo sick of all the problems encountered by pc's.

Of course now that so many people have seen the light and are switching to Apples . . the snotty virus writers will too. :madface:

But for the time being . . .it will be heaven to not have the problems this 2 year old computer has. I was so excited when I got it . . .can't believe how fast everything BAD started happening.

We are a mac family. Between my brother, his wife, my parents, my sister, etc, we have 8 Macs in our family. I love how you can send documents to PCs and no issues going there or back. Of course that no spyware thing is really cool! My sister worked for Apple for quite a bit of time and was a genius in their retail location. (So we had a resident Apple nerd among us and still do- she still works there over the holidays).

I have watched my husband go thru 2 desktops and 1 laptop ( a gateway, an HP, and a Dell) all in the same amount of time that my Mac and I have been in love :) The DVD movies that I make for the grandparents are so easy! I had a MAC classic in 95 that my parents bought for my brother in 89. I should have never stopped using Macs, I will never go back to PCs again.

Mystiqx-- it is really easy to get started. Your Mac will detect all new equipment without the install CD ( Just an FYI for everyone). They send out the Mac Install CD for those of us that b/c we had the CDs for our PCs feel the need to install. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get a hold of me, if I don't know, my resident apple nerd will be more than happy to answer the question.

PS I LOVE THAT MY MAC, MY AIRPORT, THE IPOD, AND MY STEREO ARE ALL CONNECTED!!! WHOO HOO

According to my fiance the techie, Macs are good for gaming, entertainment and for people who do technical design. PCs are best for everything else. What the difference between the 2 is, I don't know.

BTW viruses can be managed, you just have to know how to deal with them and prevent them.
