Theme of the day....

Yesterday must have been "Dementia Day". I have never seen so many confused people in the ED at one time.

"I was drinking and..." day :beer: or how about

"Bring a tazer to work day!":devil:

How about Low Wattage Parents Day? (for them that aren't too bright?)

We thought about getting long sleeved t-shirts with "Your tazer certified nurse" printed on the sleeves. That should get some people's attention in the ED who like to come in & raise hell while drunk & otherwise impaired.

I like that one and will use it at work this week.

Today there must have been a sign out front that said we running a special on female-of-child-bearing-age abdominal pain - complete with pelvic exams. If I did one, I must have did 101! Even ran out of culture kits and had to get more from the lab!

I also thought my old ED had theme days. We used to hve "Slingblade Day", and we would all talk like Billy Bob Thorton in the movie Slingblade. (ummmm,I reckon I won't kill me nobody today so they won't put me back in the nervous hospital,ummmmm) We also had Ministry Of Silly Walks day, and we all had to have a different silly walk. Anything to get thru those 12 hours!

Before we went high tech, we played pictionary with the chief complaint on the white board.
