The election 2024 Thread

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Quote

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

Wait.  Your words:

"Will the SCOTUS have courage and interpret the constitution according to its plain language and intentions, or will they spin and twist to appease the mad king? :

It was 9-0.  Are you saying the liberal justices caved and joined the conservatives in spinning and twisting to "appease the mad king"?

Yes, my words.  A question.  Spin might be the answer, if you read the concurrence from Kagan, Sotomayor, Coney Barrett and Jackson.

It seems the mad king is appeased.

That's all a nice deflection from the fact that I pushed back on your assertion that Trump killed small businesses.

Anyway,  I certainly forgot that stupid comment by Kushner.   As I'm sure everyone else here did as well, because it didn't matter.  That's your example of Trump's inept leadership?

Yes. Millions were vaccinated when Biden was president.  Vaccines that were developed when Trump was in office.   And how soon we forget Harris, Pelosi,  and other Democrats and liberal media members said they'd never trust such a vaccine that was developed under a Trump administration.

I worked for a contractor doing vaccines for a good portion of 2021 and first few months of 2022, including 4 months in FL of all places.  The FL Dept of Health,  and other similar agencies in other locations where I went certainly were involved.  Money cane from the federal govt obviously.  But, how exactly did "Biden get millions vaccinated"?

Uhhhhh.  He went on television and encouraged people to get vaxxed.  Maybe those were censored in Texas.  Harris, Pelosi said something stupid (if they really said it).  We all did stupid stuff like leave our groceries outside in the earlier week.  Please

In other words, not much.

That's what I figured.   He really didn't have any effect on people getting vaccinated.

Trump supporters must exaggerate and employ hyperbole to attempt to make any Democrat seem as inappropriate or stupid as Trump seems everyday of the week.  It's a pattern of behavior.

How do you know that?  It was his responsibility to do so.

Let's take a poll.

Who here got vaccinated because Joe Biden was on TV encouraging them to do so?

Who here has any family or friends who took the vaccine because Joe Biden was on TV encouraging them to do so?

Who here knows of anyone at all in their life past or present who took the covid vaccine because Joe Biden was on TV encouraging them to do so?

Raises hand.

Covid vaccination was FREE and remains so for most Americans, after reading medical science behind covid vaccination felt it my best interest due to medical hx. Sons also vaccinated.

US country has had more deaths compared to worldwide totals, thankfully decreased rate past 2 years.

Got Bidens latest offer of free COVID tests  too --which my son has used since works for a sports team.

Sounds like you decided to get the vaccine because it was in your best interest.  Didn't have much to do with Joe encouraging you.  You would have got it anyway.  Am I correct?

I received my first and second covid vaccination when Trump was in office.  It was free.

Interesting tidbit from the NYT/Sienna poll.

"Mr. Trump's ability to consolidate the Republican base better than Mr. Biden has unified the base of his own party shows up starkly in the current thinking of 2020 voters. Mr. Trump is winning 97 percent of those who say they voted for him four years ago, and virtually none of his past supporters said they are casting a ballot for Mr. Biden. In contrast, Mr. Biden is winning only 83 percent of his 2020 voters, with 10 percent saying they now back Mr. Trump."
