The election 2024 Thread

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Quote

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

Texas primary early voting starting --- Houston Chronicle endorsing Nikki Haley as Republican Presidential candidate.

Also, Houston Chronicle is backing Biden for re-election to prevent the "chaos, corruption and danger" of Donald Trump.

I liked her.  Her stance for fairness and equality is something I could get behind.  She doesn't have much political experience though.  It's clear that Biden has the support of Democrat voters..begrudgingly or not.

What strikes me as really nuts on the part of the GOP is that they would firmly smooth the behind of Trump while they have someone else running who is much more likely to beat  Biden.  She's not my cup of tea but she is intelligent, experienced and not exhibiting symptoms of severe mental problems.  They really have a problem showing any respect for women.

Many Democrats and liberal media who want Biden to step aside seem to be favoring Newsome over Harris, who obviously is already in the administration.

They must have a problem showing respect for black women.

So far Biden is doing pretty well in his primary with a black woman as his VP.

Did you catch the old guy's visit with Seth Meyers the other night? Grampa was clever and funny.

"Grandpa on his A game". ---- often what I see of President Biden during  TV coverage of his PA visits this past year.

Mitch McConnell stepping down in November '24 from Senate GOP leadership, will finish out term ending Jan. 2027

AP news

McConnell will step down as the Senate Republican leader in November after a record run in the job

As much as it's time for him to go, the Senate is going to lose all of his institutional knowledge because most of the Republicans don't seem interested in learning what he knows.  This is very scary knowing that the vicious monkeys will have no leader.
