The election 2024 Thread

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Quote

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

I love a good political song.  It's my age.

I wonder why Walz not telling the truth might bother a Trump supporter.  Walz would have to step up his lying game to get anywhere close to the lying of his opponents so why does it matter?

Meanwhile, that link is broken.  Was it a social media share? What a shame that Trump wouldn't participate in the interview that the presidential candidates normally participate in. Maybe his team knows that he's too erratic and unstable to sit for a60 minutes interview anymore.

Oh well, Walz was prepared and ready to step in when the former president backed out.

So ... does this fact mean that trump really is our "protector" as he recently described himself? Or that his accusations about "post-birth abortion" are true?

Walz and Harris are simply held to and expected to maintain a higher standard of honesty than either Trump or Vance.

Walz not telling the truth doesn't bother me at all.

I wonder why a Democrat such strong feelings over Trump's lies wouldn't be bothered by Walz lies?

He's not fit to be the vice president.

I think letting Harris do her interview was enough. After that, Trump doesn't need to go on 60 minutes. Harris said everything we need to know. Or said nothing rather.

Harris has no plans and is not competent to POTUS.  Her 4 yr track record is insight of what she will do. Nothing.

Harris hasn't told us if she would choose electrocution from an electric boat or being eaten with a shark, so there's that.

How about because what you hold up as some kind of disqualifying lies from Harris or Walz pale in comparison to the lies that Trump told about a pandemic, or his lies about our election security, or lies about immigrants poisoning our blood, or the lies Trump tells about FEMA. Should I do on?  Trump lies about everything, it's part of his mental illness.

You say that Walz isn't "fit" to be VP without specifying exactly what would disqualify him while the guy you plan to elevate spreads lies about his own constituents because they were immigrants and makes ignorant comments about childless women all while having less than 2 years experience in governing.  That makes me wonder about the discernment behind that thinking.

That projection about a candidate having no plans is pretty laughable when it's your guy who only has concepts of plans and can't outline a specific plan (apart from tariffs) for a whole host of policy topics.  Your gas lighting and projection abilities are suffering.  Maybe some practice over on reddit will sharpen them up a bit.

Oh no problem. I'll follow your example.

Walz isn't fit for the vice president because he tells lies. Just as you repetitively say about Trump. It doesn't do much to conceal your extreem bias

If I thought there was a chance of a meanful conversation, I could discuss Vance's comments with you. However from experience it will lead to ad hominiem and accusatons of "gaslighting and projection" instead of an actual discussion. My evidence of this is in your own words to the quote I'm responding to  "laughable" and "gaslighting/projection ". Both in which I could say you just did. So no thanks

Instead you could have offered what it is you believe Harris plans are that was revealed in her 60 minute interview. Or what you believe her plans are in general? You chose to use ad hominiem instead.

Doesn't seem likely any meaningful conversation is possible with you.

Doesn't he just follow marching orders from Putin and the Federalist Society.?   Trump isn't capable of writing a plan for a term paper .  He just hires 'the best" to do stuff for him.  He has that undergrad degree in business and he's not even to make it through life without 6 bankruptcies.

Why is having diplomacy with hostile world leaders a bad thing?

It should be noted that there was no war with Ukraine and Russia nor was there hostile conflict between Isreal and Hamas terrorist during Trump's term. Trump had initiated the Abraham Accords during his presidency.  A fist of its kind.

Sure Trump has many unsavory characteristics but  the world seemed more peacful than during the Biden/Harris administration.

I know I know. Never Trump even if he initiated some peace in the middle east.
