Tattoos?

Hi guys im planning to cross of my bucketlist and its having a tattoo. Thinking of getting a sleeve one(whole arm). Wondering if I get fired or maybe have a hard time getting a job for this? I know the responsibility of it by covering during work hours, maybe wearing sleeves or wearing thermal and stuff to cover it. Any insights and opinions? Thanks!

You have until you die to do it, right? I don't have a personal issue with tattoos, but i wouldn't want to deal with having to cover up such a large one for work. I know a few people who do it. They sweat like pigs in the summer.

It will depend on where you work. I have coworkers with sleeves or numerous visible tattoos and they aren't required to cover up.

Some places make you cover them and some don't. I've worked with someone who had full sleeves, he wore a scrub jacket year round. They make thin sleeves you can put on your arms now though so, you don't burn up.

Is this your first tattoo? You might want to try just one before deciding on an entire sleeve.

Outside of that, no one seems to care anymore about tattoos. You will get a lot of shade from coworkers if they think they're unprofessional. A topic search will show you what I mean.

Ill check it with my boss. Probably its okay because some of my workmates have it, but not sleeve ones. Some of them have it in their deltoid and sometimes peak out of their sleeves.

Maybe he's a strip club recruiter.

Glad to see you have such high life expectations.

Wow. I have tattoos all over my body & I'm a nurse. Not to mention there are tattoo'd doctors. So tattoos don't mean what you think they mean. Unless being a doctor is low education to you.

Well i guess i have a low educated piece of trash for a Charge Nurse.

Might be but from previous posts, he's not a nurse.

People who think that ink under the skin says anything about your education or character are so small-minded. Sorry, I don't think suburban white middle-class 1960's is the only acceptable look.

I have chosen to get tats where they are covered by a regular shirt and pants (or scrubs). Many jobs require you to cover body art at work, so be aware that while prejudice against body art is ridiculous, it's still pervasive among hiring managers, coworkers, and patients. It may impact your job choices if you have a difficult time covering it up.

A tattoo artist called it a "corporate sleeve" when people get sleeves from the elbow up. Easily covered, even when you roll up your sleeves to keep them clean or give your forearms a good scrub. You'd still need to wear an undershirt or sleeve of some kind, but you'd get more choice in how and when you reveal the tattoo.
