Hello all! As the semester is coming to a close, I wanted to get a few opinions! Personally find I know what study habits work well for me (so far) but what I seem to be struggling with lately is atmosphere. Im currently enrolled in A&P 2, Microbiology, and a special keyboarding class for entry nurses. (I've completely my first nursing class [nure 130] with a B but went out of sequence so have to apply for re entry). I have a lot of studying to do with exams and finals quickly approaching. I find Im easily distracted at home. So where do you all usually do your studying?
Home? Library? I know a lot of people go to Starbucks or other coffee shops? Also do you prefer silence or light music? Wondering what works best for some of you

I'm taking A&P 2 with microbiology right now too so I understand your pain :) Personally, I study at home, alone, with no noise at all. I don't study well in groups because of distractions. However, if you get distracted at home, I would suggest a library. That way there are none of your 'home' distractions and people are (generally) quiet and leave you alone. Happy studying!
Thank for the reply :) Im on bedrest for another day for now. So I'll be practicing my at home study skills. I need to separate myself from other things going on.
I love how productive I am at a library, definitely going to have to start going there.
Also thinking of seeing how much I can get done at my local Starbucks - I hear there's free refills on coffee and tea while you're there if you have a card

I'm most productive at my school's library. I feel like it facilitates learning more than anywhere else and there's not much to be distracted with. I listen to music with headphones but keep the volume low so it's not invading my brain.

I CANNOT study at home. I joke that it's the best way to get my laundry, dishes etc. done. I have to study either at the library or at Starbucks. I wear headphones to keep distractions to a minimum. I also bring snacks.
RunBabyRN lol I do the same thing. I wanted to study today, I cleaned the litter box, organized my computer, cleaned the desk, made the bed..... So easily distracted.

For my prereqs I was mostly studying at home unless I was at school already and had a class then I would be studying in the library or away from other people while waiting for class to start. For me I prefer less noise and less people around, for some reason hearing their chatter about the test makes me more nervous than calmed. anywhere that makes you feel studious and concentrate well is what suits you. I can't ever see myself truly studying in a place like Starbucks >.
I'm so glad for these replies. I intend to start studying at my local and school libraries. I'm going to try scheduling the time in my calendar so I can commit to it.
Feels better knowing other people have a hard time studying at home like I do

I usually have to leave home if I want to get productive studying done. I'll use the school library or the public library close to my home if I don't want to go to campus. There are also a couple of coffee shops around that I like to study at. During warmer months I'll even take my text books to a local park to read, so I can get my sun in at the same time. I'm much more focused in those environments than I am at home. At home there is always distractions or other things I could be doing so I don't focus as well. I typically do not listen to music while studying as I find it distracting.

I am very disciplined when it comes to studying so I tend to fit the environment to suit my studies. I study with a friend at starbucks and I have also studied at the school library. Ultimately I complete most of my studies in the comfort of my home and some minimal to moderate background noise doesn't fuss me.

I don't study at home. I end up cleaning out closets lol. I usually study at the Starbucks across from the nursing school I'm applying to in the fall. It motivates me. I also work as a peer tutor in my schools science lab so it keeps me refreshed on courses that I've previously taken. I'm taking A&P II and Microbiology ( seems to be a popular combo!) as well as three other courses and it's going great! Best of luck on your finals!
