  1. This is my greatest fear! I always set like 3-5 phone alarms. Plus now I set one on my laptop. I'm always so scared one will fail! I think I'll get a third- a regular alarm clock. If you have no previous missed clinicals and are a good student, I'm sure your instructor may work with you. Definitely speak to the Dean or Chair head of your program as soon as possible. Be proactive about trying to make up the day. I know my school had a zero missed clinical policy also, but there is a makeup day scheduled as well, and in the event of unavoidable absence they may or may not allow us the one absence. Every case is evaluated individually.
  2. Can't believe this was posted, I'm laughing so hard 😂
  3. Nice, I think I have heard of the NANDA book, will definitely look into that one for care plans. I want to get maybe 2. Also any extra study resources? I have the Saunders and Kaplan reviews for NCLEX. Not sure where to start after fundamentals. Just for some practice. I'm only in my second semester, but definitely striving for an A :) Just seems like so much information, looking for all the help I can get
  4. Hello everyone! I'm fAirly new here and new to nursing school. I searched but couldn't find a related topic. what are some of your favorite care plan books? What are some outside resources that you found to be most helpful with study? I'm looking around to find a few things but there are just so many houses. So id like to get some allnurses opinions!? Thanks everyone!
  5. I start my second semester next week. I saw the syllabus and wow! Time to get a planner and start scheduling ahead of time. I feel like I already need to start reading
  6. Personally, I am definitely doing it for the money. That is one large factor. I find the medical field fascinating and love the hospital setting. I've always been in that category of people. I know that nursing is a job I will wake up everyday and love doing and maintain a true passion for. I love helping people and being the caregiver. I also love constantly learning and educating others. I am fairly competitive and enjoy being the very best at what I do. Constant self improvement. The hours are great. I prefer to work longer shifts I feel like nursing will give me the opportunity to do all those things as well as enjoy my career, and keep me financially stable in the process. And I mean hey, who doesn't want to wear all those awesome scrubs
  7. This was great to read. Thank You. I'm 23 and in a similar boat. I'll hopefully have my RN at 25. It definitely used to get me down, seeing my old friends or peers graduating and all, I felt left behind. But I'll be the first person in my family to ever have a college degree, finish school, or have a career like this. So I'm staying hopeful.
  8. I'm so glad for these replies. I intend to start studying at my local and school libraries. I'm going to try scheduling the time in my calendar so I can commit to it. Feels better knowing other people have a hard time studying at home like I do
  9. RunBabyRN lol I do the same thing. I wanted to study today, I cleaned the litter box, organized my computer, cleaned the desk, made the bed..... So easily distracted.
  10. Thank for the reply :) Im on bedrest for another day for now. So I'll be practicing my at home study skills. I need to separate myself from other things going on. I love how productive I am at a library, definitely going to have to start going there. Also thinking of seeing how much I can get done at my local Starbucks - I hear there's free refills on coffee and tea while you're there if you have a card
  11. Hello all! As the semester is coming to a close, I wanted to get a few opinions! Personally find I know what study habits work well for me (so far) but what I seem to be struggling with lately is atmosphere. Im currently enrolled in A&P 2, Microbiology, and a special keyboarding class for entry nurses. (I've completely my first nursing class [nure 130] with a B but went out of sequence so have to apply for re entry). I have a lot of studying to do with exams and finals quickly approaching. I find Im easily distracted at home. So where do you all usually do your studying? Home? Library? I know a lot of people go to Starbucks or other coffee shops? Also do you prefer silence or light music? Wondering what works best for some of you
